Brian sent you a pic of the water crossing? Where's mine? WTF!

And snow wheeling.... that's an interesting one. The trail we did in late Feb was deep with snow (my Explorer dug itself in up to the frame in the first snow bank- had to get pulled out by a Jeep- then I parked it). And without a winch and/or chains.... I guess it would depend on how much snow is on the trail. Steve winched several times and Brian winched once. Brian broke 3 of his 4 tire chains and Steve broke 1 of his 2.

Probably wouldn't be interested in that until I'm a little more built up on the truck - I was thinking more of like a 2-3 on traildamage to get up there in the mountains in the white season- At least until I'm locked and am sporting a winch..

It all depends on how much snow is on the trail.

We did Yankee Hill. It's a 2-3. We spent about an hour getting Steve unstuck from an area in the snow that you wouldn't think anything about in the summer.

Same corner.

Oh damn - Never been, I suppose snow wheeling is a different monster then. At least it looks fun.. lol

Hah, I think he posted it on my FB wall, since I posted the picture of him on the red cone ridge on his wall. Did Ed get any shots of the switchback rockin' and rollin'?

I hate you all... LOL Sweet pics as usual.. blah blah.. hate you!

Ed.... that guy.... He puckers up so damn tight when things get even remotely hairy. He was a nervous wreck up on top of Red Cone. And no- you 2 wheeling around that corner, no shots that I'm aware of. But I haven't seen Ed's pics, but I think he stayed in the truck. The look on Katie's face was pretty good though as you were going through there.

And snow wheeling is fun. My advice if you go without a winch or chains- go early so the snow isn't so deep. We went in late Feb. And I'm curious to see how I'd do now. I had the 9.5" wide 30" tires when we went. I think they were too narrow and just wanted to dig. Steve has 10.5" wide 33" tires. Brian did well with his 12.5" wide 33" tires (with front and rear lockers.....).

Hi, maybe somone can help. I just got my wheel spacers in and can't seem to find the specs for tightening the lug nuts. So what are the specs in foot pounds for the 2001 sport trac? It seems they want you to re-check the foot pounds of torque every 30 miles, for up to 3 times. So i figure I better get the exact specs that ford wants. guess I shoul pick up a torque wrench too. THANKS.

You don't need a torque wrench for that. I just tightened mine with a four wat lug wrench as tight as I could get it and never had any problem. I would check them after about 50-75 miles though everytime you remove them just to be safe. Again, I never had any issues with mine coming loose, they weren't the hub centris kind either.

I tighten mine to 90. I saw somewhere to tighten between 80-100 ft-lbs. I agree just tightening it as tight as you can works as well. I've done both and no real difference.

That might work if you're not strong like me. I might end up at 400 ft-lbs. and would certainly overtorque them.:D

I used an impact gun and then tightened them down more with the four way. Yeah, I always over torque them but it's better to be safe then sorry. jmo.

Easy on the spinach popeye!

I used an impact gun

I always cringe when this happens on mine - Isn't it bad to use an impact to put the nuts back on (or is that a myth or something I heard in a dream)?

Well wheel spacers are on the back, great feed back. I tightened the spacers and rims to 80 foot pounds and when I check in a few days will probably go to 90, which seems to be popular. So far so good... still can't find fords recomended specs on how tight they shoul be, but even at 80 pounds seems damn tight!

here is some before and after pics, one is stock obviously, and one is before wheel spacers.

Well, i can officially post my trac in here now!

Here she is the day i drove her home from Wyoming (1,000 plus miles)

Here she is 10 days later... Torsion twist, Warrior shackle, and PA 3" body lift. I threw some 15x8 pacers with 33x12.5 on her last night to see how it looked...
