Bought my 1st Explorer!

So stoked about it, It's my first SUV and I'm happy so far.

2002 Explorer XLT, 4.6 V8 RWD with Leather and some other options. (tow package, Privacy glass etc...
96,500 Miles

$2,200 worth of maintenance (Bushings, Control arms etc...) done this year. So you could say I paid 1k for the car. lol....

Cell phone photos for now. I'm going to clean it up this weekend.

Cell phone didn't adjust to the light... Oh well.

I haven't cleaned it yet!

I don't care for these DVD screens.. was this a stock option?

Plans:
All Maintenance.
Wear out the tread left on these wheels, then sell the wheels and buy
different wheels/new tires.
Remove the chrome trims and replace with oem black.
and a slew of other things but that's not what this thread is about.

Welcome to Explorer land. Enjoy the vehicle. You will put some money into it, but it's a nice rig and will be as long as you maintain it.
The radio is not stock. Depending on the brand, it's a nice upgrade. Not sure what's up with the visors, haven't seen them before.

Peeled off the chrome trim on the windows. Was metal with double sided tape.
Looking better.

Are your number pad buttons messed up or is it just showing up funny? I have an extra set I'd send ya for whatever it cost to ship it if I can find it and if you want it.

They are messed up, top one is faded gone.

I'll have to dig it out. I imagine shipping should only be a couple dollars, Cant imagine itd be but about a pound even boxed up. I have several boxes of random explorer parts so have to see which one I stuck it in. PM me where youd want it shipped to and when I find it I'll get it sent out.


Edit-- The spare one I got isnt perfect but it does look better than what youre dealing with judging from the pics. Pretty sure it just pops in/out and plugs in part way down the back of the door. Not real hard to do. Been a while since I had mine out though. Have you checked to make sure yours have power to them now? (Check door jam boot for broken wires if your having any issues with that or door ajar light or lock issues)

Well based on small flat rate box or padded envelope from here to nashville, its saying about $6. More than I Figured but not bad. I'll keep lookin around though and see what I come up with after I get it dug out and an address for ya.

It's the Lincoln Aviator. Wiring will be a project.

4th gen explorer side mirrors and direct bolt on. I would look for the ones that are heated as the explorer is prewired for it

Today I picked up Sun Visors ( To replace my LCD Screen ones )

Headlights ( So I can start my Retrofit project )

and a piece of rear trim that surrounds the hatch on the inside.

There were a few limited that had heated mirrors. I didn't pick em up.
They also had dark gray interiors and dark carpet ( I love, but not going through the trouble of swapping everything out )

Has anyone swapped the 02 climate control to the Digital versions the limited has?
I wonder what all is involved.
I saw the limited also had a steering wheel with radio options and climate control options.
Awesome, I doubt the 02 xlt is pre wired for that.

yeah trs, I did my wifes chevy cobalt retrofit.
Mini H1 morimoto 6.0's. Was happy, got some Mini D2S 3.0s for another project (E36 bmw) but I don't like em as much so their just sitting in a box. :/

Here's the Mini D2s 3.0 X Square projectors.. I didn't like the output so their sitting in my office on a shelf.

Alright so junkyard trip today,

Picked up visors, Headlights for retrofit and rear hatch trim.

Quality Control via my Vizsla.

Before: LCD Screens

After: oem sun visors, Dirty but they work.

So, What's up with my Mirror. Looking at the junkyard ones they all had power buttons on em.
Mine doesn't, what's the box with wire haress behind it??

So I come out of the junkyard to see a twin parked next to me. Only mines got the wheels.
Honestly, I like my wheels better than dirty stock ones. I'm not keeping my wheels but just saying.

The button on the mirror is for the auto dimming and the box behind the mirror is your compass.

So my A/C compressor clutch cycles on and off, even though I'm not using it.
And when I cam using it, it works great.

Whats the issue?

The compressor works in every setting except "vent". Now if it is cycling with the system completely off that is not how it is supposed to work and something needs to be looked at. Nice truck btw, and great deal on it!! I would suggest adding the factory fog lights in the front bumper as another mod.. My '04 came with them, but they do come in handy on a rainy night.
