Hello all!
So I just bought an '01 eddie bauer v6 and I have a few questions, is this an awd transfer case with locking center diff and a low gear? Or is it in 2wd when the selector knob is set to "auto" as the average 4wd transfer cases are? And lastly, do these have limited slip differentials as an option available and if so how can I tell if this one has it? I took the truck out over some mild stuff and to me it felt like the rear may have lsd.

If it’s in auto it sends the power to the rear wheels, and as the sensors detect wheel slippage there is a clutch in the t-case that engages and sends power to the front differential.

There were optional limited slip ‘traction-lok’ axles. Check your door sticker for the axle code. Most common limited slip ratio is code D4, which is a 3.73

Saweeeeeeeeeeeet, thanks a lot Mbrooks exactly what I was looking for.

I'm assuming that this is NOT the traction-lok axle?

Never mind, just looked it up, it's an open diff, thanks for your help

No problem. The good thing about being open, is that you can install a “lunchbox” locker, and you are 4.10s

So what exactly is a lunchbox locker? Is this just what y'all call aftermarket diffs? Sorry I'm new to the off road game, I've been more of a street type of guy thus far, my last truck was a 91 s10 that I put a 383 in for autocross.

If anyone's curious I did this using mostly all factory gm parts as a challenge
