I used the Forum's 'Search feature on the part number and other than this thread, it only appeared in one other. Adding Remote Start
Maybe post #15 (Jason) can assist?

I think your best course of action is having a Ford dealer do the install. I am guessing its a plug and play type install, but Ford isn't sharing the instructions with anyone.

Sure, my dealer charges $60 for the installation but farms it out to a third-part shop. I'm a retired Ford Electronics Engineer and shouldn't have any problem, but I'm just cautious and want to put the shock sensor in the right place or it would be useless.

Ford perimeter plus alarm install.

I found the gateway plug and installed the perimeter plus module. 30 minutes to find the plug. 15 minutes to complete and install. Start by disconnecting the car battery. Then I recommend removing the kick cover under the steering wheel. 2 screws on bottom front, 1 in the rear and one to the lower right. I just left the led plugged in and placed the cover to the side. Then there is a blue/white sensor that can be removed but I didn't and worked around it. Right above the blue/white plug is the gateway plug. Tight spot! Press the latch and push up to release the plug. Then take the ford provided harness and connect the removed male gateway plug. Plug in the female harness and then plug the male harness into the female gateway plug. Then plug in the small male harness plug into the shock module. I believe the module comes set on high sensitive. I recommend that. Now security is higher and if you use the fordpass app and if the alarm is triggered, it will now send your phone a message. If you don't have remote start this module will allow remote start. You just need to insert the provided jumper. Your car came with remote start? leave the jumper out. Add led indicator if you purchased. Closed all up and tuck in the module in the back the way you would like, connect battery and there you go. Lock car from key and its armed.

My first video.. nothing special. Won't win an award with this video. But should help with install.

I've completed this on my old 17 raptor and my 20 superduty. Completely different install on the 20 explorer.

Thanks for sharing your experience, wildburpp03; that's what I have to do now - Lock car from key. Otherwise, if I touch the door handle to lock the doors and walk away, it invariably honks the horn when I'm a hundred feet away!

Oh man, I've been meaning to install this for months, but since the vehicle is parked outside I've been waiting for the right weather. I have all the parts just need to install. I think this pig tail Y goes on the back side of the fuse block/odb2 port?

FINALLY did the install. finding the plug to put the pigtail/harness in was the hardest part....ever.

As wildburpp03 said:

Unplug battery
I removed the kick panel below steering wheel
ALL bolt/screws were 7mm
One is to the lower right and one is behind the fuse panel door.
I also undid the two at the ODB2 plug and removed the plug so I could move the kick panel fully.

I couldn't find the plug so I undid a 7mm bolt at the fuse block at the top, disconnected most of the plugs. The fuse block pushes down and unhooks from the metal back plate. I used my snake camera and found the plug wildburp shows in his video. It is above the white/blue plug and is hidden by a wireloom as well. It is at the middle/top of the back of the fuse block on a chunk that is behind the main fuses.

I blindly unplugged, felt and plugged in the harness with the fuse block undone. Then once plugged in, pushed it back up bolted and connected the fuse block plugs.

This is where I also ran my extended antenna which I stuffed in the headliner/windshield above the driver side. Then ran the wire behind the trim to the trim to the left of the hood release and snuck it in that seam and to the PPS. Not sure where is a good location to put the PPS module. I ended up setting it behind the hood release, but inside the plastic so it is protected from feet. This also allows easy/quick access to adjust the shock sensitivity. The PPS module comes with the mini knob fully clock wise, most sensitive, which means the suv was sitting in my driveway and the alarm went off. I went and turned it fully counter-clockwise and then moved it just a little back clockwise.

As wildburb mentioned: Jumper plug (mine did not come with remote start so I added the jumper)
I did not install an led

Functionality:
Stock fobs will work! If you only install the pps module you will get keyfob remote start (not sure on distance)
Press LOCK, UNLOCK, LOCK

I ordered 1way remote start. To program (also in included pamphlet
car is off, get into car in driver seat, close door(s), press unlock on driver door, open door
Press and hold brake
(brake can be released after 1 cycle)
Now while brake is held you will press the start/run 6 cycles (on/off) at 6 you will leave the vehicle on.
Vehicle is OFF, ON (1), OFF, ON (release brake)(2), OFF, ON (3), OFF, ON (4), OFF, ON (5), OFF, ON (6) stop pressing buttons and the car will honk three times (3). Now you can press and hold the start button on the new remote(s). It will honk once programmed. Repeat for each remote.

Install is maybe an hour. Totally worth doing for us, since every time we NEED to remote start the app craps the bed and it is soooo frustrating.

Thanks wildburp for the video, I couldn't find that darn plug! while I was laying there looking up I couldn't even find the tow brake plug either...oh man...they really hid things..

Holy crap, ok, have a little issue. almost every time the remote start fob is used, or a fob is used to lock/unlock. The car alarm goes off shortly after.
for example, we are at a location, I start the car via The remote start fob, I hear the explorer start, and then no less than 10-15 seconds later the car alarm start going off. Have to press the alarm button when cancels the remote start,

after I installed the box, I heard the alarm go off itself in the driveway. I looked into it and found the pss box comes with the sensor turned up. I have moved the knob all the way counter clockwise as rhat is supposed to be less sensitive.

I don’t get Ford pass app notifications when the alarm goes off; is there something else rhat needs to get activated? Am I missing something?

This KEEPS happening, where the alarm just goes off on its own. I ended up unplugging the "jumper" and it has not done the random alarm since. So I probably don't have the full security alarm, but all I wanted was remote start anyway.

I am more interested in having an auto lock or an active alarm for ford. My chevy Blazer locks after 30 seconds. It cost way less than my 2020 Limited and can't get it to do that.

I don't know if I'd want that feature unless you can also disable it. There are many times when I walk away from the vehicle that I want to leave it unlocked.

Car alarm keeps going off randomly. Also if the car has sat a long time unlocked, and you open the door(s) without the key fob on you, alarm goes off.

From noticing, if I use the door touch lock, it is when it will go off after walking away. I may try only using the key fob, but this is super irritating. Are there any settings in forscan? I turned the knob (shock sensor) all the way down. unplugged the jumper (jumper plugged in made it happen more often)

What you are experiencing is not normal and should be looked into as there is a problem somewhere. Have you had the dealer check it out?

I haven’t because this was self installed. And I’d I bring it in I’ll have to pay and that sounds horrible. I’d rather take out the system. My wife said the range on the remote start fob was meh and that was the whole reason to begin with. As the app never worked when we needed it
