I came across this item and I am wondering is this indeed for the 5 L engine? Is this something that is currently on my truck (I haven’t looked) but looking up the part number it says it’s made for 5 L V8 of our generation explorer

Yes 96 and 97 had this oil cooler
It mounts to the engine block and the lower radiator hose and coolant flow through it

Ford deleted them in 98

I delete them as well
As much as I love a good oil cooler, this fluid/fluid cooler sucks it is a failure point that allows water in your oil When it decides to corrode internally

Any 96-97 5.0 engine that has this I either Re locate the oil filter or just run the 98-01’style mount and lower hose
