Mystery Wire

Just picked up a 91 Explorer, and while looking over everything, I found a wire that is cut and frayed, but cannot find where it leads to. It's a single strand that comes out of the harness that's over the passenger side valve cover. I haven't noticed any systems with degradation or inop, but I'd just like to know.

Appreciate any help.
