The 4.0 Swap was chump change compared to this - Look inside...

whoa 15 years. Mine don't last nearly that long. I try not to weld too much in them but always forget, my nice insulated ones I wear in the winter are a couple years old and they are lasting pretty good but those bibs I am wearing are brand new and already have several burn marks on them

I told Jon the first night I wore those I look like a rookie now cause they are clean :D:D And yes I am having fun. As far as the second question yes, and ummm no. Should be interesting, gonna take a whole lot of measuring and careful tube bending along with some careful cutting. We...

2 different tools for 2 different jobs. The roller is to put a gentle radius in the tube, the same can be accomplished with the tube bender, you just have to put several less than 5* bends in every few inches. The tube roller will allow a smooth radius to be put into the tube to follow...

I think its obvious in the one pic the sawzall blade is actually moving. Yah gotta mess around with the bender a bit more we got a whole lotta cage to redo and Jons whole cage to do plus a bronco cage. It really came out cool I will add this pic to show you how much actually came off...

Jons rig did awesome. I would put him up against many guys with a front locker. He rolled right through a couple obstacles that have stopped better equipped rigs dead in their tracks ( remember just behind the meadow Heath????) Anyway some shots of the Bdos working

Just to put this in perspective a bit. Jons rig walked a part of the trail that has stopped several jeeps and toyotas with bigger tires than him. All of them just one locker. If we were up there with a large group I am pretty sure that alot of folks would think he had a front locker...

Jon got it right, we asked the passenger to get out a couple of times. I told her very specifically what would happen if we rolled, she asked me if the cage would protect us. I told her yes it would. I built the cage to protect me in the event of a very hard rollover. Once she had made the...

I am doing all the work, thats my story and I am stickin to it :hammer: I will continue to make fun of Jon for any variety of things too. What Jon didn't tell you about the toy is he broke his valve stem and then backed it down with no air in the tire ( non beadlocked) about 40 feet...

Jons suspension is a 3 link ( well actually I call it a 4 link but it confused poeple) A single upper and 2 lowers, the 4th link is the panhard. It is not a radius arm suspension So its not binding like you think it is because there is only one upper

The 4.0 Swap was chump change compared to this - Look inside...

Are you assuming its on a bind because you don't think there is enough flex in the flex joint in order for it to take most of the twist? Or just because we used a bushing? Anytime you use a bushing and your suspension flexes its actually on a bind. I have no doubt that bushing is on a...

Unfortunately these are the only pics I got of Jon on the trail. The odd thing about this pic, is whenever Horton is broken on the trail and someone snaps a pic it appears Jon is doing all the hard work. In this pic it appears Jon is just watching and I am doing all the hard...

Unfortunately the only pics I got were from when you broke the coil retainer. Kind of sucks when you have a whole bunch of rigs and Jon was at one end of the pack and I was at the other. Hope to have some good pics up soon though. The Bdos really worked well though for the most part...

Real action shots coming soon to a computer near you :D It did turn some heads when I was towing it home too, had 2 guys that were pointing and talking about it. Looked like a pretty serious discussion to me. I was actually surprised they didn't turn around and follow me home

This is actually true if you read about it, but in practice it seems less true. It is the best idea but I have never broken my trans case or t case. Not a bronco dos of course but I have built a few crossmembers and done the poly on the motor mounts and the stock motor mounts quite a few...

Best tool you can get to put this doubler together is a 3/16 allen wrench with a ball end. Should be lots going on to the bdos here in the next couple weeks :D

Lets just say by now Jon is an artist with the die grinder. It will be not perfect when its together but it isn't bad at all, shouldn't be a compromise in strength in the least. That D&D doubler kit is a quality piece though very nice.

I want to occasionally ride with Jon and I am a couple inches taller than him. No way we could fit a cage that would fit me it would barely fit Jon if we did full interior. Besides the cool factor of having tubes appear out of the fender and then come back inside at the back. Should...

The 4.0 Swap was chump change compared to this - Look inside...

Its just easier to use wider stuff on the sliders because we are attaching so many things to it, in Jons case it will be the base for the A and B pillar, the wider rectangular tube gives you more options of where to attach, even with it being 4" wide I still think we might have to build for the...

We actually had normal winch weights on the rest of the winch lines but we had run out LOL. Well normal I guess a couple of bags with BBs sewed into em 5 winches on your truck, oh well last obstacle last day, and yes I broke, a stub shaft. Other than that nothing on that little climb.

So what you fellas are saying is that those cases are inherently weak? I think a major stop towards preventing failure would be to helicoil all the holes. Big problem with aluminum cases of any kind. Yah rotation control will be on our minds when we build the mounts always would have been...

The 4.0 Swap was chump change compared to this - Look inside...

So wondering, what are the weak spots of these cases, where are they breaking. How are they breaking. The how and where( on the case) will tell you plenty of how to mount the t-case Pictures help. Stories help. The strongest t-case mounting system won't help if your motor mounts...

Naw not even close to tipping it. I have been close to tipping so many times I am very well aware of when danger is and that wasn't even close. If Jon couldn't outflex that truck ( bolt on lift kit) I would be very embarrassed for him

Got busy drilling the hole for the shortly upcoming ( and needed) doubler. 5" holesaw off ebay ( its a rigid) I think Jon payed less than 20 bucks. Drillpress, plenty of clamps and plenty of lube. He can post more showoff pics we went toodling around the woods after we got done.

The 4.0 Swap was chump change compared to this - Look inside...

Not if we don't have too, but we probably will have to go a couple more inches. If I measure Horton off a stock truck its actually 3" of lift ( without tires of course). The more I wheel it the less lift it has, man I hate leaf springs BTW if any of you fellars wanna come out to Idaho and...
