The 4.0 Swap was chump change compared to this - Look inside...

Drill bits to use if you were to tap a 7/16 hole

25/64 inches is equivalent to 9.92 millimetres
for 20 tpi

23/64 inches is equivalent to 9.13 millimetres
14 tpi

If you use a 20 tpi bolt it's extremly close. I would drill a hole with a 25/64 on a scrap piece and see how it works.
I used to have a list of the different bits you could use for a loose fiitting, medium and tight fit.

Or just drill a 10mm hole and test it with a 7/16 tap for the above tpi count. Thinking it could be too lose especially with the 14 tpi. It would thread in but wooble side to side I think.

I would think your more interested in clamping rather then sheer. The more the teeth match the tapped hole the more clamping force you will have via the more surface area of the inclined plane of the threads to each other which will give a much better preload. Hope I make sense.

just realized they are drilled out to 7/16". guess im gonna be buying a 7/16" helicoil kit tomorrow. but then its onward on the doubler assembly

doing gears on heaths excursion so no progress on the Bdos except this,

just doing some of the patching on the body so its will be ready to go once the doubler is in. In fact I don't think I'm going to put the doubler in until the patches and rear fender wells are done. that way I'm not tempted to drive it and screw everything all up.

I think you did take it out according the pic cause the truck looks to be up side down.

Is this the way it would look if not rolled with the rubber stopper on the bottom? I just flipped the pic so no one will ever know that you did take it out. Love the way the sheet metal turned out, who welded it?
On a further note, did you get my pm?

I took it standing outside of the rig, so I guess it did look upside down. I welded it lol who else would have? I remember getting a pm, I thought I answered it, ill go ahead and check my inbox and get right on back to you.

couple more crappy patches with crappy welds on them, (done by me of course)

its all I can do to keep from just putting the doubler together and wheeling this thing with no fender wells. got a trip to the St Anthony sand dunes in about 3 weeks so I guess it will have to be done by then anyway.

finished the passenger side completely, here is the front patching,

the whole thing,

and my seat belt bracket, I think I might put some extra gussets on there but it seems pretty dang strong.

I've decided I'm going to get the doubler in and get it over to Eric's to do the fenderwells, that's where the sheet metal brake is, it will just make it easier. so I just need to get some helicoils for the rear tcase and get this thing put together.

and get this thing put together.

My sentiments exactly. Nice work on the floor.

You have to ask yourself, Is Heath riding along ;)

Naw when wheeling Heath is more like, oh wait I need to get out and take pictures of your rig for you!

get your ass over here and lets put a doubler together.

when your plans change on your doubler midstream you end up doing things like Helicoiling your tcase planetary at 1am. I want to start putting this thing together tonight,

You sure have had your share of hole related issues lol Be nice once all that kind of stuff is over...for awhile anyway.

Truer words were never spoken... Not to mention the problems he's having with the BII project.

Heath you are retarded, we are having our 4th kid, I've got no problem around "holes"... just sayin

just started putting the doubler case together. I also made a plate and jb welded the drain hole I made, the dd kit has one on it. got a few more things to finish up on the clocking ring and rear planetary set and she will be going together.

Lets just say by now Jon is an artist with the die grinder.

It will be not perfect when its together but it isn't bad at all, shouldn't be a compromise in strength in the least.

That D&D doubler kit is a quality piece though very nice.
