    Explorer PC

I considered using a flash memory but decided due to number of times it can be writen too that a normal HDD was the way to go, might rethink that though. the dash didn't need to much trimming although to be on the safe side I got a 2nd one to work on so I still have the original in a cupboard...

don't think I'll get away with reading emails whilst driving, plod wouldn't be happy however I think that voice recognition and text to speech software might work :-D need to sort the radio first though, got a USB stick that I'm modding to attach to the aerial, already cooked one with the...

    Aerial amplified?

cheers guys. looks like I might of cooked the radio with the soldering iron then :-( It's a pretty messy install :-) hacked the radio slot so it was big enough for the screen which is held in place by strips of mecarno and duck tape, works well though, hope to add mobile internet soon so I...

Does anyone know if the aerial we have is amplified? I've removed the head unit and installed a PC under the back seat with a touch screen up front, got a USB radio stick and attached a car aerial extention to that but I'm just getting static, It's been suggested on the car-PC forum I use...

    Surge when starting cold

Thanks guys!! oom12 sorted it great although my mechanic only did the gaskets as the washer that came in the kit was fairly bent and he wasn't sure if that would cause a problem. Kept the rest of the parts so if I get the rattling chains I'll have to get it all apart again but at least it's...

    UK new year round up.

My only problem is I'd need a bit more notice so I could save enough for the fuel so more notice would give me time to save. Coming from St Andrews to the Midlands is gonna cost more than I have available right now unfortunately.

    Surge when starting cold

Typical, O'well, I had hoped to avoid that for awhile but I suppose once it's done I don't need to worry about it for a while. I seem to remember reading that it's not "too" difficult to fit, I'm fine with computers but a total novice as far as car mechs are concerned. Can I just ask the...

    Surge when starting cold

I've serched the forums and suspect I need to clean the MAF however as I have NO mechanical experience I wanted to check with you guys first. Basically, starting first thing in the morning is always first turn of the key, idle goes up to around 2.5k and drops to 6k ish, idle alternates...

Parents business, I work for them doing the embroidery so figured as the Ex is distinctive enough to get some attention anyway, it made sense to stick some advertising on it so they can actually pay me occasionally :-)

    EATC on UK spec?

Thanks Howard, saves me spending ages looking for one with it installed :-) Si, it's electronic climate control, was hoping that it was available in the UK as it's fitted on the jeep GC Ltd from 2000 and as I said, I'm a bit of a gadget nut :-D

    EATC on UK spec?

Hi, I'm planning to buy an Explorer in the next month or so (was previously thinking of either a Jeep GC or Dodge Durango but the Ford is better value) and whilst browsing ebay noticed that you can buy the EATC control module fairly easily. I've been looking at all the info I can to see if...
