Weak heat in cabin
Yes, sorry I overlooked that. Hot on both sides could still mean it's not fully flowing, just enough to heat the hose but with it having been replaced, seems less likely to have a problem only two years later, yet I'd still check it after the heater core itself, if the heater core doesn't seem...- J_C

Weak heat in cabin
I edited and wrote a bit more in my prior post, and I am guessing your vehicle does not have a heater core valve on the hose to it, that needs open to flow coolant and isn't fully opening, since you stated the heater core intake hose was hot, but if the core doesn't seem clogged and you do have...- J_C

Weak heat in cabin
It is unlikely to have a water pump failure that doesn't cause overheating. Did the heat work last winter, after you had done the last repair to the cooling system? If so then I feel we may be able to eliminate needing to bleed any air out. My first guess would be the blend door actuator (or...- J_C

2004 Explorer binding on turns
It makes no difference to gas mileage on 2nd gen, the transfer case clutch never engages until it senses driveshaft speed differences beyond a little bit, so it won't be engaging during normal drive and if it does, you'd want it to because you've got wheels slipping. Cutting the brown wire is...- J_C

2004 Explorer binding on turns
I wouldn't drive it until you have checked the front diff fluid. Might be like mud with metallic particles in it. If it is, might be too late but change the fluid, drive it 100 miles and change fluid again. Computer updates... it didn't do this for 20 years, don't think that's going to be the...- J_C

XLS isn't likely to have more than the base radio, so no amp behind passenger rear quarter panel. Without a keypad on the door, yeah you probably don't have a RAP module at all.- J_C

22% Lean on bank 2 HELP!
I can't see anything in the picture. IAC valve gasket, I think mine came with a silicone rubber gasket but places sell a paper alternative gasket or you could pretty easily cut one out of bulk gasket material. The rest of the leaks, that's unfortunate depending on where they are. At least you...- J_C

Considering that it is an XLS, does it have the keyless entry door touchpad? If not then you might not have the Remote Access Personality (RAP) module aka keyless entry box.- J_C

22% Lean on bank 2 HELP!
I assume that it was doing this before you replaced anything? If not then did you reuse the fuel injector o-rings? It needs new o-rings if the injectors are removed or replaced. Since you have the fuel pressure tester, might as well get that reading since it's so quick and easy to do...- J_C

idle RPMs up & down
Cleaning the IAC can definitely help, IF it's the cause. I also prop mine up on end for a few hours to let a drop of light (~5W-20) oil run down into the shaft bushing.- J_C

Wiring help! 97-99 sohc engine, can you identify this plug?
Thanks. This clears up some confusion I had, because on the wiring diagram, it is not shown correctly. There it shows this as only a resistive sensor, not a solenoid or other electro-mechanical vac valve, which is more obvious by looking at this picture of it.- J_C

Wiring help! 97-99 sohc engine, can you identify this plug?
This is just a sensor that tells the PCM the valve position. Without having the code to look at, ??? Edit: The above is not accurate, it's also (or instead?) a vac valve.- J_C

Wiring help! 97-99 sohc engine, can you identify this plug?
I already told him that I thought it was the Intake Manifold Communicator Control as that was the only thing I saw on a wiring diagram (attached below) with those two wire colors. I hadn't heard of this IMCC, but apparently it's a resistive gate sensor that gets opened under full throttle...- J_C

Slipping And Bump?
It had been much colder here recently, was not slipping when it was 10F yet did at 30F yesterday. Tranny does not have fresh fluid and filter. It was changed several years ago but with so few miles being put on it, has been a long time. It does have a transmission cooler that came with the...- J_C

Slipping And Bump?
First time ever, I put my '98 with 4.0L SOHC and 5R55E into reverse, backed down a driveway, put it in drive, and it only crawled along forward so I gave it a bit of gas (it was cold, just started a minute ago at 30F ambient temperature) and engine revved slightly but not with a normal increase...- J_C

Solved Fuel pressure problem.
We know PATS does not disable ignition system (?), nor starter on this generation of Explorers, but nobody has been suggesting that all you have to do, to defeat PATS, is wire 12V around the fuel pump relay to force the fuel pump to run, presumably because it also disables the injectors? If it...- J_C

Solved Fuel pressure problem.
.. but how can it possibly run with no fuel pressure? it wouldn't come through the fuel injectors at all then. This makes me wonder about even the 27PSI reading. Forscan will show you useful info about long term fuel trims. They don't have to be pegged to see a problem, just out of +/-10 is...- J_C

Solved Fuel pressure problem.
It is not making sense to me that you can have it running but have zero on the fuel pressure gauge. Possibly someone else knows how this is possible but I would wonder if the gauge itself is bad, too. This is what I would investigate next, feeling a need to know what the actual fuel pressure...- J_C

Solved Fuel pressure problem.
This model year does not come from the factory with a fuel pump shutoff circuit, just disables the fuel injectors with PATS. Solved Fuel pressure problem.
Okay we may need more info, rather than "similar to what I'm currently experiencing", exactly what is the issue? Multiple different fuel system components could cause a no-start. For example does it not start, every time you try? Do you ever hear the fuel pump come on when the key is turned...- J_C

Add ATP AT-205 to oil. How much do I add?
That AT-205 has gotten expensive. Similar seal conditioners are found in good oils, and more of them in "high mileage" oil like Valvoline's Maxlife. Considering that you're in GA, I might try Maxlife 10W-40, without the AT-205 yet if you haven't tried high mileage oil.- J_C

P1824 - where is relay located?
I would check to see if when set to 4WD, if 12V is getting to the electromagnetic clutch in the transfer case, and if so, then you have a connector or clutch problem. If not, trace power delivery based on a wiring diagram, and as far as the relays you've found, swap in different relays if...- J_C

I would try liberally spraying in dry silicone around it, or even trim some material off the button if it's just too much friction, before i'd buy a whole FCIM to replace a button. Is the housing damaged? replacing cluster illumination and indicator bulbs, LEDs or incandescents
I'd just get same type incandescent bulbs that it started out with. They aren't expensive and lasted 25 years. As far as how hard the LED ones are driven, if they dim properly (linearly enough compared to other lights controlled by the dimmer) then just don't run them at full brightness. I...- J_C

I looked around in my wiring diagrams, fuse box diagrams, and service manual for my '14 3.5L NA and saw no mention of this diode. I might have just overlooked it, though. Can you provide more context? Did you find this diode lying under the vehicle, or otherwise, why fixate on this diode?- J_C

Where is this grease coming from?
I wouldn't assume that too tight a clamp, will affect every single CV axle that Ford has made, and I'm weary of 3rd party brands so would go with the Motorcraft. You might research the other brands, used in other Ford applications where the vehicles are older so a larger data pool to draw...- J_C

Where is this grease coming from?
How much downtime can the vehicle suffer? Ideally I'll pull the CV axles and inspect for wear and grime ingress, since you have not reported any funny (clicking, etc) noises - which would be an automatic replacement factor due to the wear causing the noise. If they don't look bad then I'd just...- J_C

Brake light, abs, traction control light
There are multiple sensors involved in these subsystems, which all have to be working properly. Without the belt on, does it spin freely but with a "little" bit of resistance, not freewheelling long after spun by hand? It shouldn't keep spinning for several seconds or have any wobble. Besides alignment and belt tension, I'd wonder if it's very old new stock and the grease inside has...- J_C
