Bought Daughter a 2010 Ranger, She Paid it Off, Blew Engine, I Replaced Engine.......
I haven't ordered the kits yet because they didn't answer my follow-up questions. I'll call them in the morning. RockAuto shows the same part number for the exhaust side timing sprocket as both of the Ranger sprockets, so they are the same. I'll see if I want to swap sprockets when I get the...- BKennedy

I got a response from Massive Speed. I'm getting clarification, but the email said all I need to do is remove the solenoid, but they linked a delete kit. The kit looks like it is a plug to replace the solenoid to seal the valve cover. They also said that whenever you remove a crank pully on...- BKennedy

Bought Daughter a 2010 Ranger, She Paid it Off, Blew Engine, I Replaced Engine.......
I'm having a issue I'm trying to figure out. The FUSION engine has a different timing gear on the left side, which I think is a VVT setup. The Ranger engine doesn't. Everything else looks identical. I'm working on finding info on a fix and hoping I can still salvage this swap. I'm hoping I...- BKennedy

410Fortune PM'd me the answer. He said to get the Focus engine #1 cylinder to TDC, then swap the pullys in the same orientation. I'm going to get both engines to tdc, and compare just because. Thanks 410.- BKennedy

Here are some pictures of the engines side by side. I think the Ranger engine was leaking from everywhere. The Focus engines plumbing and intake are off. I think the water pump, thermostat housing and the power steering pump are the same. The water pump in the Focus engine looks...- BKennedy

Got the old engine out today. Took about six hours of cursing and general bad mouthing the engineer who designed this monstrosity. Who runs a hard water line from the front, then around the back of a engine to get back to the front? We had to pull the engine mounts off to drop the motor low...- BKennedy

The ranger has a fan clutch and fan on a pully mounted to the timing cover. The Focus engine had an electric fan. The Ranger seems to be a mixture of old and new technology. When I get them side by side the differences will be easier to see. The engine is simply mounted but covered with...- BKennedy

Got everything unhooked, unplugged, unbolted, etc., off the top half of the engine that I could see. I marked most of the plugs that are near other plugs. I also marked all the bolt sets and how many there should be for each accessory. It came apart surprisingly well with no issues, except one...- BKennedy

Warning! If you have a 2.3 and have a reason to remove the timing cover, you first have to remove the crank pully. You need to mark it in some way so you can put it back exactly as it was. It has the crank sensor cam attached to the back of the pully. There is no notch in the end of the...- BKennedy

Engine looks great. The pan, timing and valve covers have been leaking and came off way too easy, but its nice and clean inside. Timing chain and guides look good. Oil pan had hardly anything in it, with a little gunk probably from sitting for two years. I put it mostly back together with a...- BKennedy

After numerous PM's with 410Fortune, we decided to find a replacement engine. He answered all my questions and gave me a list of models and years that had the 2.3. Valve stem only Ford can replace??
"Tire Discounters" sounds like their business model is hoping to get people in there who think they are going to "Discount Tire". Most tire stores recommend replacing the valve stems and stems on TPMS when you replace the tires.- BKennedy

It won't cause any more shock than leaving it in D as long as you are at a reasonable RPM. How I understand automatic transmission function is if you put the selector in 1st, it stays in 1st. If you put it in 2nd, it uses 1st and 2nd. 3rd, 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Every one I've ever driven does this.- BKennedy

Valve stem only Ford can replace??
I'm 99% sure the valve cores in your explorer are standard. You can purchase aftermarket TPMS sensors for your year vehicle. I would first attempt to tighten the cores, then remove them and clean them up as they normally don't fail. If they are still leaking, then I would order a pack of...- BKennedy

Dana 35 TTB RE-GEAR Questions
I have never set up axles. It's a skill I never acquired because I have no need to do it on a regular basis. It requires specialized tools and knowledge. Dana 35 TTB RE-GEAR Questions
Reverse cut D35 is how you reference your front TTB axle. They are also referred to as high pinyon or reverse rotation. Reverse rotation is a misnomer. They turn the in the same direction as standard gear sets, but are cut in the reverse. This allows the pinyon gear to be above the center...- BKennedy

2nd Transmission Cooler
It's wired with a cabin switch, hot in on/run only. If it's hot and I'm going slow, I use the fan. I don't see how it would possibly counteract the radiator fan. They are both pushing air in the same direction.- BKennedy

Bought Daughter a 2010 Ranger, She Paid it Off, Blew Engine, I Replaced Engine.......
Daughter bought the F150 today. She liked it, bought it. It's got a higher listed tow rating than my Silverado. I do think the Silverado with the 14 bolt swap could tow upwards of 10,000 with no problems, but I will never do that to it. The plan is to find a replacement engine, do the swap...- BKennedy

Changed the title to a more appropriate one. I gave her my list of trucks she should look at. All crew cabs, all 1/2 tons, not pulling anything heavier than 6,000 pounds. No specific order: 2019 and up Ranger. F-150. 1500 Silverado (but the newer 5.3 versions have reoccurring lifter issues)...- BKennedy
