Warrior 153 shackles install with pics
I should mention that while doing this modification it is a great time to inspect your shocks, leaf spring bushings, rear sway bar links, and many other parts. I chose not to replace the bushings bc they looked to be in good condition but I did grease before installing the new shackles. You can...- Four0Sport

Warrior 153 shackles install with pics
Before I start on the install I would like to say that PB Blaster is our friend, and should be used liberally days prior to any work. I started by gathering all the stuff I thought i might need, this included a 1/2" drive ratchet, socket, the new shackles, blue loc-tite, a cheater bar...- Four0Sport

front diff options
i just realized i kinda worded that wrong.. re-gearing the front is a given. what i meant to get across is if i could leave the front open or not. im leaning more towards a 3.73 setup now, as ive been calling around and there are more of them. i havnt gotten stuck anywhere with the 3.27 open...- Four0Sport

front diff options
first off.. im not a differential expert, with that being said.. im disappointed that my 93 has a 3.27 open rear diff, so i talked to a friend of mine at a local salvage yard who is giving me a really good deal on a 2nd gen 8.8 with 4.10s and LS so ill be getting a better rear end, rear...- Four0Sport

We Have A Red Explorer Down!
finally made it to the salvage yard to get a used MAF, paid $30 for maf, housing, and a foot of harness with a warranty, not too bad. vehicle is back to running normal. now that i have 2 maf housings, is there any benefit to removing the screen on the maf, i know that on GMs this is done alot...- Four0Sport

'94 ranger Radius Arm Bushing
you can use the same method of grinding off the rivets on your ranger. this is by far the easiest way to replace the radius arm bushings in my opinion. after removing the nut on the back of each radius arm and removing the back bushings and plate, grind off the rivets for the bracket, remove...- Four0Sport

dies when put in drive
my 93 does something similar once in a while, even after putting the other motor in so i know its not engine related. torque converter sounds possible, my torque converter lock-up solenoid is out and i think thats a major part of my problem.- Four0Sport

where is the IAT?
its been a couple weeks since ive actually had a 'day' off and im going to try and tackle the codes i pulled on my 93. one of the codes i pulled along with the MAF codes was the IAT. problem is, i cant find where it is on my 93 4.0L, the Haynes manual shows it located in the intake elbow...- Four0Sport

replacement axles shafts
you might be better off buying a complete used rear end, find a set with a lower gear ratio, dont most sports come with 327s? thats what my 2dr has in it. as far as finding new shafts themselves, im not sure how you would go about finding just the shafts, maybe from a salvage yard out of a used...- Four0Sport

i have 145000 miles on my 5.0 and besides MSD coils and a good tune up nothing is done to the vehicle and with oversized tires i still get 15-17 mpg, 300 miles to a tank. im hoping that the recent replacement of my cam sensor and synchro will help keep my mileage more consistent as i have...- Four0Sport

Rear Diff Sythetic oil capacity and weight questions.
i also used 80w90 in my 93 with a limited slip additive. although many books and references say the limited slip additive is not required i always use it as another step in protecting the clutches. mobil 1 makes a 75w140 SUV/Truck blend that has a slight amount of friction modifier in it that...- Four0Sport

ford wanted $175 when i called but in the end i paid $97 for it. labor was estimated at 3 hours @ $80 an hour, a friend of mine who is a ford tech did it for $120. so i saved alot. i like having 'people'. i should try out for an H&R block commercial.- Four0Sport

after putting 31s and 15x8s on my 93 2dr i noticed the tires stick out about an inch or so from the wheel well. ive noticed some second gen sports with wider wheel moldings and have been looking for a set to put on my 93. question is.. what years have the wider wheel molding? i was thinking...- Four0Sport

that is what happens when you have movement in your cam synchro, im lucky that didnt get wedged in the housing and locked up the shaft just showing how the wobble of the synchro shaft busted the cam sensor apart- Four0Sport

Add a leaf or F150 Spring Swap
i was wanting to do both in the rear and springs and 1 1/2 spacers up front but i was told many a time that you cannot do this w/out drop brackets up front. bummer. i alreayd have the AALs so that will go on, as soon as i get it running right, i have bad bad ford luck.- Four0Sport

We Have A Red Explorer Down!
yeah i was thinking the same thing, but the recharge was done with the plugs a couple days prior to todays events. it is possible that oil built up on the MAF or that i got the MAF wet while rinsing degreaser off. i am going to do a quick search to see if a 5.0 MAF will work on my 4.0 OHV and...- Four0Sport

We Have A Red Explorer Down!

Add a leaf or F150 Spring Swap
just adding to the array of questions.. i was underneath my 93 today and have been contemplating aal's but realized it would be easier to just do new shackles. i understand that aal's give a stiffer ride, but is there any disadvantage to installing war153 shackles instead of aal's?- Four0Sport

Is this a big problem?
its actually pretty common for the area in and around the fuel door to rust. i dont know how many explorers ive seen with gaping rust holes and or gallons of putty around the filler door. Fuel line removal tool
you can get everything you need at advance auto parts. if you bought the fuel pump/sending unit assembly it should have come with a new lock ring and 0-ring and should have the strainer already attached to the pump. you will deffinetly need a line removal tool. i reccomend the ampro 5/16" red...- Four0Sport

Tire specs for 93 XLT
they ran the tire pressure low from the factory to help the vehicle ride smoother, but most tires dont have the sidewall strength to run at 24 psi., which is partly why the firestones gave out. I run my tires at 34-36 psi.- Four0Sport

plague of the chirp

backpressure loss?
bolt up hardware isnt really an issure, i would rather have something professionally bent and welded. i may go with a universal 2 1/4 mini cat which i can get from work for around $50 just to eliminate excess gasses. $400 for an exhaust sounds ridiculous when i can get a $20 muffler, $50 cat...- Four0Sport
