exhaust smell in cabin with windows or sun roof open
header leak fixed. I used a remflex gasket, so no ultra copper was used. i think the bolts could have used a re-torque, and that might have contributed to the gasket blow out. I started on the tailgate tonight. There is a vent there with flaps. The flaps looked like they were still intact...- Dono

You guys end up with such nice trucks you must cringe at the rather large tree branches you scrape against, not to mention the massive boulders you slide against. I love following yours, and others threads on using these trucks like they were meant to be used. The craftsmanship and ingenuity...- Dono

exhaust smell in cabin with windows or sun roof open
I'm surprised you don't get a smell with dumping your exhaust under your truck like that. Interesting. The time I was hoping to spend sealing my tailgate and looking for issues in that area just got swallowed up by me now needing to replace my header gasket. I was hard on the gas this morning...- Dono

or both! I can't go out the side like the Gibson unless I take off the resonator/muffler I just installed back there. I think I can get a 45 degree angle at the bumper though. I don't think finding a deflector will be easy anymore. Also, probably pricey. I do think the deflector would go a...- Dono

Can we re-visit this iat sensor thing? I just want to relate an experience I had when I re-located my iat sensor in to my lower intake. Here's what happened: Any time I was idling for any period of time the lower intake wasn't moving enough air and the iat sensor would start reading super...- Dono

exhaust smell in cabin with windows or sun roof open
I'll proceed as planned. There has been nothing non-factory bolted to the floor. I don't like to drill holes or shoot screws thru the floor. It does raise another good point that I might want to pull the side panels off in the cargo area and pull the carpet back for a look also. There might...- Dono

exhaust smell in cabin with windows or sun roof open
I think you guys are dead on. I need to try both. When driving on a gravel road, or in the rain you can clearly see all the road stuff getting pulled up on to the glass. This explains the exhaust being pulled up to the rear hatch. Attempted fix: Change the exhaust more to the side, and extend...- Dono

exhaust smell in cabin with windows or sun roof open
I'm looking for things to try here. My exhaust isn't exactly stock, but exits the stock location. What I can tell you is that I don't have an exhaust leak. With a window down, or the roof open its almost like the smell comes from the back of the cabin. It's surprisingly bad. My exhaust does...- Dono

I'm getting closer and closer now. The water/meth seems to have the right jet now and boost is coming on early as the truck pieces as a whole start to work together. Here's the Muffler installed. A couple of other gear heads hanging around the shop said its actually still pretty loud, so don't be fooled by the video. I think it sounds really good, and still super mean. The guys around the shop thought so also. They've never seen anything like my truck...- Dono

I'll be watching this closely. I think my trans mount is in ok shape, but I know what @vroomzoomboom 's looked like before he created a poly mount. Makes me think this mod is a good thing to do. I had my doubts that a little thing like that would make a difference, but it seems to take the spitting/chop out that (I think) the turbo blades make. A deep rumble is all that's left. I had a few opinions on it as people came over, and the consensus is that it sounds way better and still...- Dono

I'ts the Vibrant 3" resonator that is total length just under 14". It will fit perfectly on my tail pipe once its cut back. There is still a low rumble that is not really picked up by the phone. Have a listen to the without/with resonator. I'll get it welded in to the tail pipe next week.- Dono

Gman, the leaky trans pan might be the dip stick o-ring. I'd go after that first as it's pretty easy to change it. The only reason I'm suggesting this is I had this experience, and thought it was the pan gasket also. When I pulled the O-ring off it was clearly cracked and decayed.- Dono

Funny how one thing leads to another. Great news on cleaning up a bit. If your garage is anything like mine, you still have lots to do. Even greater news that you found that ballast, and are getting closer to getting the electrical issues sorted out. Were all in your corner.- Dono

Well, The oil leak is engine oil. Could be rear main (Which concern's me as it could mean thrust going out in the motor) or it could be a leaky valve cover gasket. I'm hoping for the valve cover gasket. Other than that leak, its dry under there. I might be adding some dye to the oil if I can...- Dono

header leak is fixed! I still have a bit of a oil leak that I need to fix. I think it might be the transfer case seal. Since I fixed a couple of other leaks, I might be able to see where this one is coming from easily. It's not a bad leak, but does leave a few drops on the ground when I...- Dono

It blows that there is no one there that can work with you on this. It really takes two people to have the dash apart and test with an ohm meter and possibly a hand full of fuses until its correct. As I keep digging, I can see the differences in the 1995/1998 connector with the high mount brake light. With the 1998 S212 wiring is pin 511 and pin 569 jumped together? guys, does this look right to you? In theory, GMan could apply power to #2 on the fuse panel and the rear brake light should light up. Also following that thought, shouldn't fuse 2 (7.5a) (Not fuse 13 (15a)) be the first to blow if anything after that point is shorted to ground? Am I looking...- Dono

How to: Make your 99-01 V8 run cooler
I am using a 180 for summer, and think I'll need a 192 for winter. The 180 will probably be too cold for good heat in the cabin. I think Ford went with the 192 for better emissions and for winter drive4 comfort. For summer, I think 180 is plenty hot. I have my 180 stat, and my fan turning...- Dono

@fast_dave on the 2000 explorer/mounty the fuel system is returnless. This means the fuel pressure regulator is in the gas tank, and part of the pump basket assembly.
