Deathrow Update #3
So, question, anyone have any tips for wiring some grill lights to work with the headlights? I've been putting it off but I'd like to finally work with it and I'm not sure on where would be best to hook them to for the headlight switch. Like these for example- DemonMudder

1995 Explorer XL personal thread
Looks nice! Not sure about the steel bar though, can't say I've seen that in any explorer before, something aftermarket, just not sure of the purpose. But yeah, just keep up with the general maintenance and you've got a sweet lil' truck there- DemonMudder

WHY so loyal to Ford Explorer?
Honestly, stubbornness. My '99 XLT, Deathrow, was my first truck, had her a bit over 2 years now. Over that time, it took a while, but I worked and worked to finally get that check engine off, but I did. She ain't given up on me yet and I don't plan on giving up on her. She gets me to and from...- DemonMudder

Deathrow Update #3
Yeah but they don't tell me which color they are, the green or the blue. Usually when I look at them, just says it's for a 95-01 Explorer, which could be either or. So I haven't bothered with that yet, as well as I'd end up taking apart my old ones to try an led swap like a crazy- DemonMudder

Deathrow Update #3
Well, this is how it looks without me sanding the back of the faces. Honestly, looks really good even like this, so, no rush on taking it apart to sand it. But I did find that some of the leds like the 4wd ones, check engine, airbag, and a couple others are always on, just dim, when the lights...- DemonMudder

And here we go, she's setup for now, still a couple things I'm considering, but she's all set and done for now! May have to rig the rear hook and hand differently so they aren't so low to the ground- DemonMudder

Deathrow Update #3
Well after over 5 hours, the guage cluster is relit, still not how I wanted it because I didn't safely know how to take the faces off and sand the filter. Let alone recalibrating everything when I put it back together. So I only did the bulbs and I'll finish it up at a later day since know I do...- DemonMudder

Well, it was mostly dried up where I went, and the little there was was mostly just water. But I did get a little mud, at one point even sunk a little deeper than planned, haha. Here's Deathrow after my little trip to a new park for mudding. Need a decent rain before my next trip. May have some...- DemonMudder

Deathrow Update #3
Finally, all of them are finished up, next step is the guage cluster which I may do on Tuesday if I don't get called in to work. This was a customized led, the one I ordered didn't, have the lining on the bottom sides of the housing to connect on top of the circuit board. So we used the old...- DemonMudder

That's a pretty good idea, hadn't thought of that. Only thing that worries me there, is it just hanging there dangling in the wind, I do a good bit of highway travel, it would be ALL over the place. Besides, my a/c does not work right now so I can't live without the windows down, Florida's too...- DemonMudder

1999 Ford explorer, can't get it to fire, only crank
I had a similar issue on mine, the theft light would flash rapidly, wouldn't start. I ended up buying a new ignition cylinder and keys, had a guy come out and program both to match the truck, and there ya go, cranked up. Had to wipe the old ones for it to match up properly- DemonMudder

engine compatibility
The rear hatch will fit, just needs the old bumper and tail lights to go with it. Need to run more of the license plate light wiring as well since the older models held it on the bumper rather than hatch. But I've seen someone recently swap it, so it is possible. Would assume the front end will...- DemonMudder

That's a neat idea, hope to see it! I've got a rusty hook and chain, similar to the ones on the roof, coming to hook on the hitch, being as thats showing its rust too. And a few more hands to hang around on the truck, like Rick's suggestion for the bumper, got that coming soon!- DemonMudder

Fog Light LED Conversion Question
Forgot to add this earlier, these are how they look, fogs + daytime running lights. Am deciding if I want to add that yellow filter on the lens for the fogs. But until I finish up some of my other current projects, this is not a priority in my list right now, so updates will be slow.- DemonMudder

Fog Light LED Conversion Question
Yeah, that's pretty much what I was thinking for installing them. Florida is a little strict on that, but at the same time, I rarely have to use them anyway. It rains often but doesn't fog very much, not at this season at least, and the rains never really thick enough to think about using 'em...- DemonMudder

Deathrow Update #3
Yeah, I just was hoping to find a plug and play version as led. Ended up soldering an led in, which went nice and easily. For the 4WD switch, I did switch the boot/filter from my green to the older blue one temporarily though, shredded the old green in the process. But I'm working around options...- DemonMudder

Deathrow Update #3
And here we are, last one being the 4WD switch, also going to be the most of a pain deciding the best approach for it. Now, to also wait for the last of my leds to come in and take some time for the guage cluster.- DemonMudder

Fog Light LED Conversion Question
Well I did just pull the bumper corner off which works. But my issue is that the mounting brackets on the new ones don't match the stock ones, they're just between them. So I'm going to have to redneck something for it. I'll keep this updated on what I do, get some pictures of the replacement...- DemonMudder

Fog Light LED Conversion Question
Anyone know of an easy way to get the inner section out of the fog light assembly? Just those four screws, don't want to have to take the bumper and brush guard off again just reach the top screw and take the whole dang assembly out. I think I could just take the bumper corner that used to be...- DemonMudder

Reputable and reliable headlights for the second gen?
Yeah, FL 100% is! They are just under $300 now where I originally bought them, they've gone up like $20 since I got them back in January. But it does show them as 5% off right now, only a little more than I paid...- DemonMudder

Deathrow Update #3
Okay, done a little more, placed one of the older blue filters on the 4wd switch light temporarily and two of the other switches switched to led. Reputable and reliable headlights for the second gen?
I went with a company called Anzo, the headlights have yet to leak in 6 months. Work pretty well too, not really any complaints other than my crappy installation and breaking one mount on each one. But that's mostly thanks to a different issue on the truck, not to blame the brand. This is how...- DemonMudder

Engine swap
Not 100% knowledgable of this, but I believe it's going to depend mostly on your engine, is it a SOHC or and OHV? Whichever, should be able to swap the same kind back in with not too much issue I believe- DemonMudder
