Yes lots of foreseen problems
92 4.0 = OHV pushrod engine
04 Ranger = SOHC V6 engine
This conversion can be done, but not easily
Your 92 is EEC-IV, OBD1
The 04 is EECV or OBD2
NOW the SOHC engine CAN BE MADE TO RUN using the 92 PCM, you must really know what you are doing to pull of this conversion
However it does not FIT the 92 engine bay very well, the SOHC engine will HIT in several areas
Is your 92 an automatic or stick?
The transmission will not last long behind the power of the SOHC engine
This conversion (putting a sohc in place of an OHV on a TTB truck) has been done, many many times now
But this is not a SIMPLE thing to do, not in the slightest. In fact for the amount of work and $$$ needed to make it happen you could have had a v8 which also comes with a much stronger transmission
