Tall valve covers to clear 5.0 roller rockers
Still have to drive to the shop tomorrow to test fit, but the Spectre covers look very promising. Clean design on the inside with little to interfere. Tall, and very well made. Several pounds of aluminum each, nothing like the cheesy chrome covers you see all the time.- fastpakr

Tall valve covers to clear 5.0 roller rockers
It's going to be close for sure. Can't really confirm clearance until I have a set of valve covers to see it all for together. I'll let you know.- fastpakr

Tall valve covers to clear 5.0 roller rockers
I've got a set of the newer style Mustang covers in my cart on eBay. Hopefully the Spectre set will clear (and stay under the upper intake), but it's a good backup plan. At least the intake spacer helps a bit with clearance above. Then I can switch over to sorting the next puzzle out:- fastpakr

Tall valve covers to clear 5.0 roller rockers
Thanks again. I'm curious - your Mustang covers don't have the supporting rods built in that mine do. Any idea what year that changed? Given that it feels like I'm bumping into things all over the place, I wonder if they're also part of my issue. Regardless - I'll get a shot at the Spectre...- fastpakr

Tall valve covers to clear 5.0 roller rockers
When you say 'clearance the baffle', how much grinding are you talking about? I removed the aluminum plate from the baffle on the Mustang covers and they aren't even close to fitting. I can't actually see what all is making contact, but it feels like they're bumping in multiple locations. I've...- fastpakr

By that point there wasn't much in common between the Ranger and Explorer though. Would be great if there was though. A simplified modular swap would be amazing.- fastpakr

A lot more involved fit wise though. I'm not sure what I'd do on a truck that new honestly. Maybe time for the sacrilegious LS swap using a newer donor and all the associated emissions components to keep it kosher.- fastpakr

Tall valve covers to clear 5.0 roller rockers
Much appreciated. I'll stick a bid in on a set and see what happens in the next couple of days. I actually had a good set of the steel/rubber gaskets, though they didn't survive the last couple of years while the engine was in pieces in the garage. Definitely worth the investment IMO.- fastpakr

Oh - thanks! I misread that as a capital I. So they're tall enough that a simple baffle bump might enough. Good to know! Edit - you're suggesting this type? https://www.ebay.com/itm/333966672389?mkcid=1&mkrid=711-53200-19255-0&siteid=0&customid=link&campid=&toolid=20001&mkevt=1- fastpakr

Tall valve covers to clear 5.0 roller rockers
I'm looking for a set of valve covers to clear my roller rockers. The shop put on a basic chrome set, but the oil fill is in the back. I had this link in my notes: https://www.therangerstation.com/forums/index.php?threads/3rd-gen-v8-swaps-w-4406-chime-in-here.149683/ My suspicion is that both shafts came from the F-150 that provided my transfer case. MBrooks gave you a link for a source. The Torque Monster option is definitely a guaranteed quality product. All things being equal, I'd certainly go that route.
