2006 ford ranger manual
So i am trying to put a 5.0l v8 2001 ford explorer engine into my 2006 manual ranger but i want to keep it manual so what transmission will i have to put behind the engine to bolt right up no problem?

You may have better luck in the 2nd gen Modified section.

Agreed.

And doing the swap into an 06 introduces significant complications.

I’d use a 4.6. It’s be loads easier, and wouldn’t be technically “illegal”.

A lot more involved fit wise though. I'm not sure what I'd do on a truck that new honestly.

Maybe time for the sacrilegious LS swap using a newer donor and all the associated emissions components to keep it kosher.

It’s almost old enough to be a classic. I was thinking 2006 explorer. I’m not sure how much the ranger has branched off.

I believe the 5.0 transmission you’d want would be found behind the 4.2 6 cylinder F150s.

Don’t double post, please. It’s annoying and will get your threads ignored.

around what year am i looking for for the f-150 transmission to fit

I was thinking 2006 Explorer. Those came factory with the 4.6.

By that point there wasn't much in common between the Ranger and Explorer though. Would be great if there was though. A simplified modular swap would be amazing.

I was reiterating my point to OP for a second time where I stated they had branched off quite a bit.

You’ll also need to tune out the auto functions or you’ll get loads of errors.

oh okay so it’s going to be difficult to find parts that fit when I do engine swap

I'm with you now. Totally misread it the first time.

No worries.

Let’s just start from the beginning.

Do you have a 2001 Explorer to pull the stuff out of, or just have access to the drivetrain?
