Not all hope is lost. After alot of searching I have seen one or two members say that they were able to make the swap, just need to add some wiring, and enable some items in Forscan. I was just hoping for some clarification, and a few pics to help out to ensure I have the right plans.

The issue is trying to upgrade without the existing SYNC. The conversion from Sync 2 to 3, and even the basic 4" SYNC1 to 8" is straight forward. Without the existing SYNC, the aftermarket Tesla style is not compatible, and the dash kit to swap in a double din are only for 2011-15. I guess...

I appreciate the link! That's a good price, I will be curious how the fit is. I found a full 3 piece carpet out of a wrecked one on Ebay, but I missed out on it for $175.. I was able to find the spare tire well carpet, cover, and trim at a local junkyard for $30 so at least that section is done.

That is correct, you need to remove the 60 MPH rear impact brace. The 3rd Row seat bolts in where the brace would go.

Have any pics by chance? I have been looking for other models to get a dome light out of that would fill the hole and not look out of place.

If you could post how you did your connections? I am looking for ideas to keep it simple, but did get not the dash side of the main harness to splice into.

Yeah, I bought my PIU with the assumption that it was standard. I didn't realize what a hassle trying to upgrade would have been! I appreciate it!!

That kit only works if you have SYNC to begin with. Most of us with PIU's do not have factory SYNC, which really limits anything that we can do to upgrade.

You started with the 4" with Sync, correct? The issue I am having is my PIU does not have Sync to be able to make the standard 4" to 8" conversion. I was hoping someone else with a PIU (as it appears there are quite a few out there) has been able to make something work.

I know any of the 8" screens have the AIPM mounted with the screen, but do the 4" Sync still have a AIPM? I can't seem to find much online..

A little update, I found a full console online for $140 shipped with the brackets. I pulled the shifter out and zip-tied the leather boot for now. Unfortunately the lid has a little cut in it, that the seller did not mention, and they are pretty expensive to replace, so I am hoping to work...

Well just for kicks I pulled the existing unit to see what the wiring looked like.. Anyone with the 4" Sync, could you post your wiring? There really isn't much there, assuming it runs to the ACM (I think its called) and not sure what the difference is there from the Sync vs no Sync...

Has anyone just tried to simply add the Sync Module to the existing 4" screen? I would assume the wiring is not the same, but curious could anyone be able to post pictures of connections for the 4" screen with Sync? Or possibly a wiring diagram?

I checked Crutchfield, and it does not show any available options, or any installion dash kilts/wiring harnesses that fit.

Does your 17 PIU have Sync or is it without?? I am dying to put anything in place of the basic 4" without Sync, but can't get any info on getting the factory Sync 3 8" or even going aftermarket. I will definitely be interested in anything you find!

No one has put in an aftermarket unit into a PIU?? For as many as I see around, and for sale I am surprised this is not a common first upgrade.
