Oh, and what's the mileage on your '02? A quick tune-up might help your mileage a bit. Tom- Squirrelmaster

Gas Mileage
In my '04 2wd Sport Trac I get about 17-18mpg city and 21-22mpg highway. Yours does sound a bit low, but if yours is a 4x4 and that's just city driving, it might be about right. Hope that helps. Tom- Squirrelmaster

Welcome!! Thanks for your service :salute: . You might try the search function to see what it brings up, as there are and have been quite a few threads whose topics are exactly what you're asking. Sport Trac Adrenaline incentive needs info
Welcome. First, what year Sport Trac are you referring to? Since you're in the 2001-2005 forum, I would assume you're referring to one of those years. I can tell you that while there is some room beneath the truck, there isn't a whole lot of room (anything much beyond 30cm would probably...- Squirrelmaster

3rd brake light works, main do not??
I said this before, but make sure you trace the trailer wiring harness, as the more I've read about brake light issues, the more often I've seen it end up being the culprit. Tom- Squirrelmaster

3rd brake light works, main do not??
Make sure to go ahead and replace the bulbs, as they are cheap and it will eliminate one possible cause. While you are doing that inspect the socket for any corrosion or grime (I've had bad sockets do some strange things, though this is probably not your problem), and if neither turns out to be...- Squirrelmaster

I haven't a clue how many were built, as I haven't really looked into it. I don't think too many though, as I've only ever seen two ST Adrenalins other than mine; one black, one blue. Tom- Squirrelmaster

Door Panel "How to??"
That sounds about right (it's been a long time for me as well). Just be careful, take your time, and don't force anything. In my old '95 Explorer, one of the previous owners forced the panel when he took it off and broke on of the hooks, which led to an irritating rattle when driving on rough...- Squirrelmaster

Odd Combination
Exactly the same, with exception of the bed cover and pin stripe. Here are the dealer shots: I have since ditched the running boards (I don't need them nor do I much care for them), put on the vent shades on all the windows, installed a class III/IV receiver hitch, and put on Yakima...- Squirrelmaster

All of the ST's come with a rubber floor inside, which I personally love, so in that respect your ST is not rare at all. The Adrenalin package does make it a bit more rare, though not too rare, as it sounds like you have the exact same truck as me :D ! Tom- Squirrelmaster

Yet another "I did shocks" thread!
I just replaced the shocks on my '04 Sport Trac with the Bilstein HD's, and while my truck just rolled over 30,000 on Tuesday, it made quite a difference. I will concur with others that the stock shocks suck, and don't last at all - the things could have been compressed by a 3 year-old...- Squirrelmaster

Tinted my tail lights last night
As near as I can tell, it's federal law that dictates light color, however what is not covered by the federal law is left to discretion of the local law enforcement. As far as federal law is concerned, turn signals in the rear can be either red or amber, but they must conform to SAEJ588 turn...- Squirrelmaster

Tinted my tail lights last night
Where are you at exactly? Most places don't define a specific bulb color for the rear turn signals, they can usually be either red or amber. And typically they need only light up one of those colors when used, otherwise the color they are when not in use doesn't matter provided the reflectors...- Squirrelmaster

bad ride after lift.......need help!!
Pretty much, since the torsion bars are so tight the shocks can hardly be used to dissipate any energy from the suspension travel. The idea behind the shocks is to dampen (dissipate) the movement of the vehicle chassis in relation to the tires (as its weight compresses the suspension on a...- Squirrelmaster

bad ride after lift.......need help!!
I agree. You may be able to help the ride a bit with better shocks, but the torsion bars will still be too tight, and the ride will still be terrible. If you can find softer bars, that would be one option, but for now your best bet would be to either loosen up the bars or just suffer through...- Squirrelmaster

Problem with check engine light-emision problem-
I can't tell you for certain because I don't have any experience with the sports, but if you can see the filler neck inside the fenderwell from underneath your X (which I don't think you can), then you can judge how hard you think it will be. If memory serves (which is not my strong suite)...- Squirrelmaster

rough cold starts and various DTC codes.
Double check for vacuum leaks, in particular around the intake gasket. Also check the PCV for leaks and proper function (they're really cheap, so you might as well replace it). Next would be to check fuel pressure, as you may have a fuel pump beginning to die, or leaking injectors, or a bad...- Squirrelmaster

Problem with check engine light-emision problem-
Wow, this is a very old thread that Lewbish drug up. As far as Wild Cat's problem, I'm pretty sure it was the EVAP cannister, as it is meant to catch the excess vapors from the fuel tank and then hold them until they are purged later on. Here's a link that gives you a rough idea of it...- Squirrelmaster

8" Sub?
If I remember correctly, the regular X's and Mountaineer's have only a 6" sub, but I could be wrong. My '04 ST Adrenaline has the 8" sub in the plastic enclosure beneath the driver side seat, just as the one posted above. Behind the rear seat back is an oval grill with the amp behind it...- Squirrelmaster

K & N Air Intake Valve/gas Mileage
It does sound like something else is wrong with your Sport Trac. Though my ST is 2wd, I typically average around 17 in the city and 21 on the highway with a not-so-light foot. I would get your truck scanned for any codes (not all will trigger a Check Engine light), then do a tune-up replacing...- Squirrelmaster

ST Shake issues at highway speeds
My ST handles great on the highway, no vibrations or anything. My 95 Explorer shook like crazy and was a scary death trap on the highway, but it had a bent wheel along with the alignment being completely out of whack. Fuel Pump Questions
They make pumps specifically designed for carbs, as most only use around 8-10psi. If you run a pump designed for fuel injection, I wouldn't count on it lasting too long. Many fuel injected systems include a return line for the regulated fuel so it doesn't restrict the pump too much and kill...- Squirrelmaster

Starting problem, please help!
In my '95 Explorer I had an issue similar to this, though not nearly as often as you seem to have it, but in my instance it was the fuel cut-off switch under the dash in the passenger side footwell. I guess my switch was just old and faulty, but every once in a while I'd have to either make...- Squirrelmaster

Pumping Gas
I've never heard of cobwebs, but I have heard of it being clogged with gas from overfilling the tank, usually taking out the evap canister with it. Tensioner help!
Agreed. Make sure to check the belt for signs of wear (cracks, tears, odd rub marks, etc.), and you might go buy another belt and try it out to see if the noise stops. No problem, I hope it helps you at all. I too know what you're feeling with this. Pumping Gas
Hold it at an angle or try a different gas station. I have problems with older pumps at older gas stations doing the same thing, it's simply the design of the filler neck, so there isn't anything you can do about it. The newer style handles that only insert an inch or two and have a rubber...- Squirrelmaster
