I'm not sure about testing the module connections with a meter. Have you made sure all the fuses are good? If you go back in this forum there is a ton of information on 4X4 problems and what fuses to check. You might find something useful. It does sound like you might have bad module.

I had the exact problem with my 01. Try tapping on the transfer case motor with a small hammer. If you haven't used 4X4 in a while it could just be stuck. Tap on it both in 2X4 and 4X4 and see it it helps. If that doesn't work it could be the module.

I just did the hub bearing on my 01 ST. Got it at Rock Auto. Timken for $120. Ordered it regular freight and had it the next day.

Changed it today. That was the problem. It really wasn't that hard to change. Should I consider changing the other side or wait unitl i have a problem with it? Thanks for the help!

Yes, it is a 4x4. How hard is it to change a hub bearing on the truck?

On my 01 ST I'm getting a vibration from the front end. It seems like its coming from the passengers side front. It's more noticeable on the highway at speeds over 60 mph and when turn slightly to the right. I just rotated my tires to see if it would help but it did not. Could it be the wheel...

It's possible its low on refrigerant. Can you tell if the compressor is cycling on & off when at idle or even when the engine is at a higher RPM? If the compressor is cycling a lot, especially at a higher RPM then it's low on gas.

javs - when your in park or stopped is it warm air or just cool air blowing out (not as cold as when running)?

Just tapped on the shift motor without 4WD engaged and jump in the truck to go down to the local farmstand. Flipped the switch back and forth a few times and the 4X4 came on and is working fine now. Does that mean the shift motor is sticking from not being used? How often should it be used...

OK, I tried tapping on the shift motor while 4WD high was turn on. Nothing happened. How can I tell if I'm getting power to the shift motor? Any ideas what else it could be?

It was built in 8/01. I guess that means it's a job #2. I've tried 4X4 every which way possible, park, neutral, in gear and waited for a while. Still nothing.

Thanks for the response ncranchero. I checked the fuses again. #13 in the engine compartment and all the fuses in the dashboard compartment to be sure. All were good. I moved around the wiring harnesses and connectors near the module also. Still no luck. How do I tell if I have a job#1 or #2 build?

Hello all, I'm new to the site but have already gotten some great information here. My 01 Sport Trac 4X4 will not work. No lights on the dash and no click from the 4x4 module. I tried working the connections back & forth on the module, changed the module, checked all the fuses 3 times but still...
