Busted rear shock barb that connects air hose and shock

Couldn't find the piece. Ford still sells the receiving end (the brass ring) part though, and air suspension part sites sell the tubing (sans male end) along with double female connectors used for connecting air lines with male lines together. So this damn piece has to be sold 'somewhere'...

    Sway Bar End Links

Joe, thanks for the input. However, wouldn't a longer (and therefore more flexible) link absorb some of the energy that is supposed to be transferred due to flex? Or is there not enough flex involved for it to be relevant?

Busted rear shock barb that connects air hose and shock

Well tousley ford has informed me that the plastic barb piece only comes with the hose. And the hose is discontinued. I guess i'll just go to the hardware store tomorrow and start sticking connectors in the shock and hope one locks in :(

Busted rear shock barb that connects air hose and shock

So neither air line would come out like its supposed to by pressing the circle down and pulling the barb out. The first hose I just pulled until it broke the locking mechanism in the shock (which came out on the barb). The other line broke so part of the barb was flush inside the hose, and the...

    hitting animals and insurance

Yea living in the boonies always brings nice surprises. I got back from a week long vacation and went to start my thunderbird. Heard a few loud clunks, start driving and kept hearing clunks and could feel it through the shifter. I take a quick look under the car and don't see anything. Start it...

    Locking the hitch ball

If some punk comes up to your truck with a wrench big enough to remove a hitch ball and he notices that you've locked it on (by welding, messing up the threads, etc) he is probably going to be inclined to do something else with that big ass wrench, and it'll probably cost a lot more than...

Does CAI improve mileage on an otherwise stock XLT

A little FYI, your cold air intakes are increasing MPG because instead of sucking in cold air from the fender (like the stock intake box) it pulls in warm air from the engine bay. So you actually lose power in that aspect. However, some 'cold air intakes' increase power by throwing off the MAF...

Does CAI improve mileage on an otherwise stock XLT

Usually if you have more power, that means more MPG? Are you kidding me? You do understand that if the engine gets more air that the MAF/fuel injectors put in more fuel right? Or are you just making things up?

    Cold air intake

For $50 you can get a wireless one (bluetooth) from http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.16921 I connect to mine through my android phone and can see real time data from all the sensors while I drive.

    Top speed for the 5.0L

Except you have a speed limiter that kicks in before 108mph. And I really doubt you have S rated tires or better on a SUV, so congrats on being an idiot if you aren't exaggerating your speed and have the 1 explorer ever built without a speed limiter.

    Performance upgrade

They make pretty good road coarse engines if they are super/turbo charged. I wouldn't expect one to push a SUV into 14s with bolt ons though.

    Performance upgrade

To be fair, the 4.6L only has 2 timing chains, and doesn't have a problem with the chains or tensioners failing. Not 'pretty much non-issue', but non issue period.

    Cold air intake / Exhaust

If by some chance you take your truck into a shop and there is somehow no bung to screw in your o2 sensors after they replace your cats, you can buy an o2 sensor eliminator/simulator (also called a MIL eliminator in the mustang world) which tells the computer that everything is hunky dory on the...

    Cold Air Intake

Why are these even called cold air intakes when they are taking in warm/hot engine compartment air? The stock setup at least sucks in cold air outside of the engine bay...

Am I making a mistake in this trade or not

No offense but maybe you shouldn't base financial decisions off a 7 year old's demands. Based on that alone i'd say yes you are making a bad decision.

How many more quarts of ATF do I need to add?!?!

If you are really worried you could always get a clean pan and drain all the fluid, measure how much fluid you captured, refill with said fluid, then top off with the recommended amount minus what you captured. But overfilling isn't going to harm anything... it won't blow any seals or...

98 AWD with rear axle noises

Usually you just lose your limited slip, but that is from the result of wear and tear. I'm not familiar with this binding LS clutch pack issue. You have to do some serious internal damage to make it not turn at all.

    Power Steering Groan Turning Left

One thing Ford has never done well is power steering pumps and steering racks. Its one problem I usually just learn to live with.

    1997 merc. mount. 5.0 v8

We certainly have different definitions of useless then. 60hp to me is far from useless. But if thats what you actually meant then that is more reasonable. I'd have to disagree on the economics of that first setup vs adding the supercharger later though... you just wasted money on your tune and...

Driver's door lock actuator fatiguing door metal

I'd just take the switch from the passenger side and put it in the driver side to see if that eliminates the problem. I can't think of what else could cause that.

    1997 merc. mount. 5.0 v8

I'm still waiting to hear how the saleen XP8 makes 280+hp with its supercharger and FMS headers which you have said yourself are garbage, and others have said are barely better than stock. The roots (or maybe it was twin screw) supercharger kit that used to be sold for explorers advertised a...
