Key won't turn when very cold.

I'm kind of answering my own questions at this point. I felt from how the key would slightly turn but was then solidly locked that it was likely the tumblers in the lock frozen so I took a lighter and heated the end of the key (where it would contact the tumblers) and the lock turned.

Key won't turn when very cold.

2002 Explorer XLT - I can't turn the key when it is extremely cold. The emergency fix is to warm it up with a hair dryer. Do you think this is moisture related? I live in a very dry climate. Is there a permanent fix? Also, I'm not sure it is just the key cylinder. Is there another part of the...

Thanks Swappart for the information. My torque wrench only goes to 170 ft-lbs so I guessed after that. I'm going to get a better torque wrench and re-tighten.

    Wheel Bearings

My 2002 XLT had one of the rear wheel bearings go out at 155k miles. It went from unnoticeable to nearly undrivable in 20 miles which was disconcerting; fortunately I got it home. My question is should I replace the other side even though it shows no signs of trouble? I've read numerous...

Is My Fuel Pump Going Bad

Thanks for the feedback. I agree a bit of robbery, a lot in the $1300 case. I was having them quote OEM pumps (and a fuel filter) because it only added a small percentage to the overall cost and I believed it would be more reliable.

Is My Fuel Pump Going Bad

The first place I went to wanted $1300. Called around and the lowest I was quoted was was $785.

Is My Fuel Pump Going Bad

Thanks for the information. Is it the jagged idle current that looks bad or the startup spike with the drop out?

Is My Fuel Pump Going Bad

Twice in the last two years I blew the fuel pump fuse on my 2002 Explorer when I was starting it, not while hauling down the interstate. The mechanic said the pressure was correct but was not sure about the wave form and thought I should replace it (~$1000+). I looked at the current draw...
