Help, my driver's side door handle springs broke

I really appreciate your quick assistance, and yes, after I posted (and was driving down the road), I realized that I didn't list the year/model of my Explorer. I posted hastily and didn't even think of it... But again, thanks for your help. It's greatly appreciated. Matt

Help, my driver's side door handle springs broke

Hey all, Both the springs/clips on the drivers side door handle broke and now the door handle is really floppy (still functions perfectly, but It feels like a big hunk of junk and I'm not sure how long it'll last). What are my options? It looks as if the handle is riveted in and I will...

    Exhaust...

I had a 40 series flowmaster welded in to replace the stock muffler (then added a 3" stainless tip) and it was definitely NOT loud at all. Some people even wondered if it really had a flowmaster. I then did some modifying of the cats (removed one set, but can always put them back on if need...

LED rear turn signal bulbs??? Help needed

Hey all, I just purchased "Redline" model number 3156 (I believe..don't have them with me right now) LED bulbs which were supposed to be direct replacement for the stock rear turn signal bulbs in my '97 Explorer. To make the story short, the bulbs worked fine when my four-ways are on, but...

    lift before TT? OR NO?

Hey bro, thanks for the help. So what would you recommend for me to be able to fit 31X10.50's or 32X10.50's under my '97 EX AWD? And just to specify, "shackles" are just leaf springs, right? Do I need one or two more leaf springs? Can I install them myself, or are special tools needed...

    lift before TT? OR NO?

Hey guys, From the searching I did and while looking on the board, I have seen quite a bit about the "add a leaf" or "shackle lift" for the rear of these explorers (while subsequently doing a TT on the front to lift that as well). I only want a modest 2" lift or so on my explorer, so I am...

    Bought a '97 Explorer (kind of)....performance ?'s within.

Thanks for the response and the links, man. About the "tap": I am almost positive that it is indeed a valve tap, but I could be wrong. I hope it's an exhaust leak, but either way, the dealer is absorbing the cost of repair so it doesn't really matter to me. Thanks again for the links...

    Bought a '97 Explorer (kind of)....performance ?'s within.

Hey all, I went and put money down on a '97 Explorer the other day. XLT, 5.0L, 82,600 miles, leather, dark gray exterior, blah blah. Anyways, I didn't pick it up yet because as part of the sales deal, the dealer is going to FIX (not COVER UP) a valve tap it has and also fix the oil...

"Exploring" the possibility of buying an Ex....questions.

Alright...thanks again. I will not buy a SOHC Explorer but will go with either the OHV V6 or the 5.0L V8 version. Whichever I find. Thanks again for all your help. I'm sure I will stop by often now to learn more about these vehicles.. Thanks again! Matt

"Exploring" the possibility of buying an Ex....questions.

Thanks for all the help, guys. So what you're saying is this: 1) stay away from the SOHC until atleast '99 (which basically rules out the SOHC motor for me because I don't want to spend that much money due to the new vehicle) 2) the OHV 4.0L engine is the definate reliable choice, with the...

"Exploring" the possibility of buying an Ex....questions.

When you say "earlier" models of the SOHC V6, do you mean pre-1996 models? If so, it wouldn't be a problem as I really only am going to consider something if it's '96 or newer. So did Ford change the engine sometime between a SOHC V6 and an OHV V6? When did this take place and why...

"Exploring" the possibility of buying an Ex....questions.

Hello all, This site was recommended by some of my fellow "corralers" over at www.corral.net for a great place to come to get info on Explorers. I am interested in eventually buying a 96+ explorer and have a few questions: Any help would be greatly appreciated. 1) How reliable is the...
