    Help - Error Code P0420

Peter, I bought the car a couple of years ago in Atlanta. Later, I was doing some maintenance to the underside and discovered that someone had put in one of the upstream O2 sensor extentions to fool the ECM into not seeing a P0420. Probably the dealer to pass emissions. I should have checked...

    Help - Error Code P0420

I've replace the left side (front) Catalytic Converter, which is the P0430 code, a while back. It was not bad to replace. Wondering how hard it is to replace the right side (backside) Catalytic Converter. Looking for a little heads up before I replace it.

    Help - Error Code P0420

I have a 2013 Ford Explorer that shows the P0420 code. Catalyst below threshold. While running a scan tool the o2 bank 1x2 and o2 bank 2x2 are fluctualing between .1 volts and .9 volts quite nicely. These are the downstream sensors for Banks 1 & 2. While scanning the o2 banks 1x1 and 2x1...

    Another P0741 Code

Here is what my valve body looked like before I installed a rebuild kit. The material in the passages reminded me of the copper stuff in that Bar's Stop Leak. Very fine particles. I'm thinking that it is band material and the bands need to readjusted?

    Another P0741 Code

A rebuilt torque converter was installed when I rebuilt the transmission. 15,000 miles. Sad to hear.

    Transmission Additive

Good suggestion. I thought of doing that earlier. 4th gear set works with front band. May need to be adjusted after breakin.

    Another P0741 Code

Rebuilt 5R55W 15,000 miles ago. Removed Valve Body, cleaned, completely tore apart, brushed, and install a shift kit. Kit said it should take care of the Torque Convertor slip. Car drives nice and smooth, but still getting the P0741 code. Thransmission is surging trying to lock the clutch up...

    Transmission Additive

Anyone have any suggestions for adding a additive to my 2002 Ford Explorer 5R55W transmission without loosing a bunch of it? Fords worst idea of filling from bottom plug instead of a dipstick.

    4X4 Control Module

Has anyone figured out how to repair these 4X4 Control Modules. When I bought my 2002 Explorer, the module was bad. Found one a Pull-A-Part and it worked for about 6 months. Getting tire of junk yard diving.

    New After Market Radio Install

Hello everyone.......Merry Christmas I am wanting to swap my 2002 Ford Explorer with a aftermarket radio. Looking to a radio to take up the double Din space. Does anyone know the opening space after the radio is removed. Outside it measures 7-1/4" x 4-1/4". Would the inside dimension be 7"...

2002 Ford Explorer XLS has a Ghost Living in It

Stopped for coffee this morning first thing after leaving house. Didn't use cruise control until I went 10 miles and got on a 4 lane highway. Runs on CC just fine and doesn't disengage. Guess I could pull the fuse to the cruise control and see if it happens again. It was doing the RPM thing a...

2002 Ford Explorer XLS has a Ghost Living in It

It happens with mine without even touching the throttle. I took the cover off last night and inspected the cable. Nothing frayed. I remove the IAC and cleaned inside the pental to see if it was sticking. Happened first thing this morning and drove 30 miles to work and nothing happened. I'm...

    5R55W Transmission Showing P0775, P0732, P0735

Turned out to be a missing thrust bearing #215 in the OD Planetary Assembly. This bearing is normally pressed into the OD Planetary Gear Assembly. The first time I rebuilt the transmission, I purchased a used set on ebay. Very good condition for used. With my first time ignorance, I didn't...

2002 Ford Explorer XLS has a Ghost Living in It

Doing it again. While sitting in Drive with foot on brake, the RPM goes all the up to the RevLimiter. Have to shut engine off and restart a few times before it drops down to normal RPM. This vehicle is a bomb waiting to happen. It could smash into the rear end of another car or something and...

2002 Ford Explorer XLS has a Ghost Living in It

Not doing it any more. I suspect it could have been the Throttle Position Sensor. Vehicle had been sitting several months while I repaired the transmission. Working just fine.

2002 Ford Explorer XLS has a Ghost Living in It

Today sitting at McDonald's, waiting to buy a cup of coffee and the RPM shot up to 5,000-6,000. Note, my foot was on the brake, not the foot throttle at the time. I quickly held the brakes down hard and placed the shifter in Neutral. I turned the ignition off and restarted. Still went up to...

    5R55W Transmission Showing P0775, P0732, P0735

Not yet. I'm going to look in my Forscan software and see if it can control my shift solenoids. Particularly the Shift Solenoid C. Controls shifting in 2nd and 5th gear. I have tried everything else but the PCM. Forscan did tell me they weren't actuated on in 2nd and 5th gear. Also will...

    5R55W Transmission Showing P0775, P0732, P0735

Update: I checked wiring harness from transmission to PCM connector with a load to see if I had any weak wiring. I did this with a 51 watt headlight bulb. Each connector handled a 3.5 amp load perfectly. Used an amp meter in line. Replaced Valve Body, Solenoid Block, OD Servo Piston, Air...

    5R55W Transmission Showing P0775, P0732, P0735

Well....If have the transmission all buttoned up and back together. Here is a summary of what I have done: I rebuilt this transmission 10,000 miles ago and am now getting the P0755, P0732, P0735 codes. When I rebuilt the transmission, I took it to a locale transmission shop and he added the...

    5R55W Transmission Showing P0775, P0732, P0735

Yep, air expels at the same rate as the Apply port as the Release port in both the OD servo as does the Intermediate servo. I can hear and feel both servos actuating and the both bands are tightening. I didn't mention this but, the last time I checked and reinstalled the valve solenoid block...
