Running again! though the fuses all looked good, under the steering wheel two of them failed the continuity test with a multimeter so replaced those... also took out starter, alternator, and cable assembly from starter post to alternator which includes the fusible link(s). Cable was good...

never turned the key with it in the wrong way, just visibly smoked the one wire. but after turning battery around and getting it correct... no lights/action when turn key to "on." still not gotten back to it yet for more diagnosing. partially busy, partially too disgusted!

thanks. new bearings went in yesterday and new hubs arrive monday. once that's done i guess i have a new maintenance procedure to learn! gets very wet and dirty where i am, constantly, even if not 4-wheeling every day. what's involved with your annual hub/bearing servicing?

warn hub torquing ok.. i'm seeing lots of numbers here for how and how much to torque warn hubs.. ftlbs and inch lbs, etc and more. i see torque to 35 in/lbs, then back off a 1/4 turn, then retorque to 16 in/lbs. ok. well and good. then lots of comments about needing 135, 150, 200...

locked all the time? well IF we can leave them locked all the time, why unlock them ever..? just want to make sure there is some clarity here.. does this apply to dry roads too? or just locked when plenty wet and/or snow? my understadning is that keeping them locked, ties the front wheels...

worn out warn hubs? back when ford/firestone bought me some new tires for my 1994 Ford Explorer XLT, i "upgraded" to a rancho 2.5" lift kit, and bigger tires. some time after that, my auto hubs quit, so replaced with WARN standard manual hubs and i am sure, new bearings. now, 8-10 or so years...

same size replacements Tho firestone on the phone, the rep in the store, and the website say nothing about any restrictions for the "up to $100 per tire" for replacement tires, HOWEVER, the local Discount Tire guy told me people were NOT getting refunds from Firestore if the replacement tires...
