    Tranny Slipping!

Just a quick question. I went to the Ford Dealer the other day (only because my drivetrain is still under warranty) to have a mechanic come with me to test drive my vehicle. I told him the problem. The tranny when under normal acceleration, in between gears, will jump to around 4500-5000 rmp and...

Where is the CTS located on the 4.0 ohv

OK, I have yes another question. Started her up today after sitting for about 5 hours in the cold. The truck started to shudder and the rpms were at like 400 - 500 and would jump to about 1000 and back down to 400 - 500. It felt like the engine was going to stall, but it didn't. Finally after...

    Bad TPS?

 How can i diagnose if my TPS is bad. My truck has been very sluggish the past few months and @ cruising speeds, normally between 45 & 55 mph, when i touch the gas lightly the truck seems it wants to stall then picks back up and accelerates. It actually has a bucking feel to it.

Where is the CTS located on the 4.0 ohv

Ok. I'll do the plugs and wires today, and i already have the fuel filter so i'll replace that while i'm at it. Another question. What is the easiest way to access the plugs? And are autolite plugs cool or should i stick with motorcraft and what type (platinum or the OEM replacement)

Where is the CTS located on the 4.0 ohv

Could a clogged fuel filter be a cause of hesitation issues also? And even if it isn't probaly going to replace just for preventative maintenance. How bout the TPS? maybe another culprit?

I have noticed a jerking when lightly pressing on the gas pedal, as if the engine wants to shut down but then picks back up, and it hesitates. The power problem is in acceleration. CEL and crappy gas mileage

yeah, i tore it apart, and the first thing was i could untighten the bolts to the intake plenum with my hand, second the gaskets were shot, hard as a rock and definitely worn down, probably not holding a good seal. any more experiences with this problem and the p0171 and p0174 codes posted would...

    CEL and crappy gas mileage

Family mechanic told me today that the INTAKE GASKET is usually and commonly known as the problem with the good old pushrod. Got the gaskets will be tearing into it ASAP. I also tried spraying carb cleaner around the intake plenum, but didn't hear any change in the rpms. Does that mean that the...
