    2 year project complete-351w,ford 9",dana 44, 35s, with pics

I have a choice of swaps for my Explorer. Either 302 or 351. I have heard there are problems with getting a oil pan that fits for the 351. Is this an issue?

    Tire size with cheap lift?

I cant beat that but my 35Mtrs still have the blue coating on the white letter side! thinking of selling them with the wheels to help pay for the engine and axle swap.

    Tire size with cheap lift?

I got 35 mtrs and going to sas to fit 42s. Of course that also includes new engine, new tranny, new gears, etc. What a pain but the 35s already are looking small

Black out looks much better. If you go off road the white letters get scuffed but regardless the black looks better.

    Billing question on brakes

The front brakes are pretty easy to fix yourself. Buy a Chilton manual and you can pretty much do anything to first gen explorers. The rotors are a little more expensive than others for the Explorer because of the bearings inside but eveything can be done much cheaper with good parts without...

    Tire size with cheap lift?

32s will fit no problem. I had 3 inch body lift at first and fit 32s with no rubbing with stock wheels. If you go with 31s you will always wish you had 32s. Its a vicous cycle!

    Flowmaster

    Flowmaster

go to a little mom and pop shop with a 40 series bought elsewhere and have them custom bend the pipe for you. 2.25 inch is the best, i had mine done for 120 bucks from the cat back. Ordering the pre bent stuff is a waste of money.

Need help in choosing leaf springs please

I am in the process of doing a SAS to fit 44 inch TSLs on my Explorer. The rear is no problem, as I can generate enough lift for 44s but I am in a bind trying to figure out what leaf springs to use for the front. I have a 5.0 going into it as well and AOD and Advance adapters unit for the...

    Full Width SAS and 302

Thanks for all of the info. I already have the D44 and 9 inch axles, but I am fired up about getting 42's on my Explorer. I guess Ill sell those and pick up some D60s somewhere. I live in Lexington Ky. so it's a little hard to find axles around here for cheap. Maybe Ill have to get them down...

    Full Width SAS and 302

Well, the engine and third transmission have gone on a permanent vacation now on my truck. Guess all of those hard miles, 35's and 4.56s added up. Now I am justified in swapping to a solid axle and a 302. I cant seem to find much info about using full width axles. I already have a D44 and 9...

    Annoying clicking from engine

Clicking I'm glad to see we have so many enviromental activists out there. I will replace my cats as soon as possible but for right now Im going to have to pollute the air. Just can't afford new ones now.

    Gearing options

What is the best gear ratio to install for 33 inch tires? I drive my Explorer daily and several times a year to Kentucky. I lack power now with 33's, but I still need some top speed for the interstate.

    Annoying clicking from engine

I have a 91 Explorer with about 140,000 miles on the engine. The Exuast is striaght pipes from the headers on back to a flowmaster. It also has a K&N air filter. Ever since I eliminated the cats and swapped in the new filter I have had a annoying clicking from my engine, no matter what octane...

    Shock Trouble

After installing a trail master 4 inch lift along with the SSV shocks I found that the lower part of the rear shocks is dented in due to collision with the sway bar mounts at full flex. Has anyone else had that problem and if so, how did you fix it?

    5.0 Swap

I was wondering if anyone has successfully swapped in a 5 liter into a 91 Explorer and if so, how much did it cost?
