4wd. Nothing changed i hot the suv with the noise happening. It did have stock air box filter but I installed aftermarket k&n . Noise was there from beginning. Engine runs really strong and been lady driven 1 owner suv. I dont hear anything weird coming from engine.

I'm going grab a whole carrier assembly from junkyard and just swap. Then work on mine. Its only 80buxks and I have 30 days I can return.

I'm going to pull part right now there is 3 3rd gens. Hopefully there is a carrier assembly on one of them and its in good shape. Anyway I can tell if its good or bad?. I do have 30days i can return it if its bad, but its labour in swapping them.lol

Ur close but kinda off, no leaf springs here. All I have to fk is unfortunately one side rear tir rod and bottom tie rod. Im just asking about size of bolts on driveline? Most video show 12 point bolt . Either 12mm or 13mm

Does anyone know to remove rear diff which tools i need. More specific the driveshaft to pinion bolts? Are they 12 point and size? Also the 3 big bolts holding entire assembly to chassis?. Would a carrier with 3.55 gears work on my Ford? I have the 3.73 gears.

True I found out my local yard has 2 3rd gen exploders.. just brought in 2 weeks ago. Maybe ill go grab one if still there. Yes about 1hr of labor to pull carrier assembly

Or like you said open mine and inspect all bearing . Bearing are cheap.

I found this one as well same shaft as mine but if you look on back side it has a hump for motor. Mine does not. Its flat. Im not sure if there is room to fit? So I took my shaft from mine put it in hvac rated it and now blowing hot and stays like this. Lol...

I found this one but output shaft is not D shape like mine. This looks like the first actuator I pulled out to control the foot or ceiling range. It had shaft like that shape

Ok here is my actuator... same thing small gear is chewed up however its barely spinning big one. Once I connect it and rotate heat range it did start working and spinning shaft but it never stops it keeps rotating either left or right until I change heat range. Im not sure if its normal. Cool I will unfortunately in about 30min remove actuator and inspect it. I'm also dealing with rear differential noise. Once I hit 55mph I get a winding noise. But when I get off the gas it get quieter. Im pretty sure its pinion bearings

I think if this was my issue I would be hearing grinding or something?. Where is this actuator located? I think they said in back of hvac. But they do not say how to get to it or remove the entire hvac. Is there a way to get to it without unplugging hoses?

So I removed rear plastic cover over rear hvac. I let engine warm up. I do feel hot water in pipes. So on my car . You can control the hear range from driver seat and from 2nd row. Hello Yesterday we noticed when I turn on the rear hvac system for 2nd and 3rd row it only blows cold no matter where I place the arrow on heat range. Any idea what might cause this? From videos online it shows expedition and explorer have rear independent blower in trunk area.

So I need replace the rear differential input shaft bearing. On my door tag it says I havd D4 or 3.73 gears. However when I look for parts it says bearings is for all models? Is this correct?. See image from carparts.com
