    This is for the coolant sensor. One is black connector , the other is grey connector. I think you have too remove one of the sensor and look at the part number on it. The gauge sensor has longer threads. The edu sensor is the bottom sensor in the picture, because it has shorter threads.

    Too check the joints, all you have too do, is grab the driveshaft with your hand and rotate it in the forward and reverse direction. You will see the play in joint. The joints should be firm. The bearings are inside the caps, which you can't see.

    You Did not state which engine you have. I replace my sensor without removing the manifold. I have v6 ohv, see writeup. You can modify it too work with the v8. Can CMP Synch be changed with engine in place (4.0 OHV)? I see your synch is different. You need the alignment tool.

    I ha had one code, which was for the camshaft position sensor. The sensor and synchronizer are one. In short, it just a indicator That tells the PCM that cylinder one is at top dead center.

    It should have a Check engine code for the CID. See below link CMP-1993 to 1995 ford explorer xlt 4 door Code X (Cam Position Sensor) Cam Synchronizer Replacement. On the X engine 4.0. You Do not need a alignment tool, because the the alignment marks are ,on the sensor window. Read writeup.

    I had a coolant temperature sensor go bad. It cause the car too start fine and when warm would not stay running and hard starting, when up to temp.

    THe is replacing all the exhaust system,because its easier. Your cat are block (2$400 ea). But why? How many miles are on the exhaust? You can remove the down stream O2 sensors, and see if it has more power; or the cats. You can also connect a vacuum gauge too see what the vacuum is.

    All the wires you tested, goes too the GEM module. Its located behind the radio. You need too test each wire at the GEM connector.
