toobladink's 2000 XLT
Figured I would share an update since it's been over six months! A lot has happened in that time frame and I'm excited to share all my highs and lows with you all. Back in December, I moved into my first house and most importantly, got a garage! Now I don't have to go to my parents' house and...- toobladink

Axle damper (5th shock) question
That makes sense. The way this is used on the explorer makes me think it would at least go back into place so I wasn’t really sure.- toobladink

Axle damper (5th shock) question
Ordered an axle damper from rockauto. I got this one since it was on closeout on rockauto. More Information for MONROE SC2958 I can compress it, but it doesn't rebound at all. I have to physically extend it back. Now it is listed as a "steering stabilizer" on the box so I figured if you just...- toobladink

What socket sizes for a 2nd gen?
i actually bought one of those and had gotten one of their breaker bars on sale to keep in the car since i get more leverage for literally the same reason. i also took advantage of a sale at lowes this past week and bought myself a dewalt impact so i'll be able to get my tires off really quick...- toobladink

What socket sizes for a 2nd gen?
See that's how I feel - I don't mind buying cheap for some things. I also like their icon line, the pliers seem super nice. I got a set of pistol grip long reach for fishing so i can get those hooks out more consistently. Tools are funny because you can have such varying experiences, like...- toobladink

What socket sizes for a 2nd gen?
Do you happen to know what size snap ring pliers I should need for those? I know there isn't a "standard" but like do I need one with angled tips? That's actually on my list for this year. I'll look into those jacks! They look great.- toobladink

What socket sizes for a 2nd gen?
Oh nice! Harbor freight has a sale right now and I was going to finally pick up a heavier dead blow hammer. They also have all their pliers on sale, but I only need snap ring at this point and i have yet to see one. I'm pretty sure you need one for the rear wheel bearing though? Can anyone...- toobladink

What socket sizes for a 2nd gen?
Finally got myself my own space to work on my car which means I need to fill it with tools. I'm looking at two 1/2" drive socket sets (already got a nice 1/4" and 3/8" drive set) and one goes up to 32mm and 1-5/16" for size, and the other goes up to 24mm and 1-1/8". I already have a socket for...- toobladink

Hard starts
Do you do the injectors because once all that is off, it's pretty easy to access and is just a good thing to maintain? I imagine it's also nice to test and clean them to make sure the lean codes stay away. I've never done anything like that for my truck except for the occasional can of seafoam...- toobladink

Gotcha. I think this might be out of my ability if I was improperly measuring fuel pressure with key on engine off (going to try again after work), but I'll have a look at some videos and see if I'm up for resealing once it warms up a bit more before I decide to take it to a shop. What's the...- toobladink

I forgot to also share that this is the pressure when the key is on but engine is off. This seems like the culprit to me, is it even possible to start with this low of pressure or am I crazy? Okay i finally got around to testing pressure. Seems a little under 65, but can this small of a pressure difference really cause lean engine codes? These pictures are like a minute apart - when the car shuts off, pressure drops. Makes sense to me since the car is off lol. But is this too fast? I...- toobladink

Newly purchased 01 V8
Also I want to just add a side comment; my grandpa bought my explorer from a dealership about ten years ago now. Newly purchased 01 V8
Yeah the school zone thing was more of a joke. But when you get to 70 MPH, it becomes more like 4-5. So just speeding in general is worse than you "think", and you have to remember that when you're going "4 over" that it's really more like "8" at 70-75. It all depends on the state or...- toobladink

Newly purchased 01 V8
I heard the Falken AT4Ws are great, so that's what I got earlier this year. We just got our first day below freezing a couple days ago so no snow yet. But they worked well in the sand! I'm excited to try them out in a few weeks. I went from 255/70R16 to 235/85R16. That only comes in LT. Ride...- toobladink

Hey guys, I've had this issue for a few years and I've just been ignoring it. But it's been bothering more and more lately, and I'd like to get it fixed before it starts getting cold again. Repairing teardrop wheels
I think the issue for people like me is good access to one! I love the Falkens so far! Going to take them out for a spin in the...- toobladink

Don't buy 3rd Gen with 4.0L
So realistically, even though the original post is about "only the front got updated, why not the rear?", that isn't really an issue? Make cigarette lighters turn off with ignition?
This thread has some of the most useful mods I've seen in a while; I've never thought about replacing the socket itself! I've always been hesitant to buy a dash cam for the exact reason that it won't shut off. Are there any example threads or pictures? It seems pretty self explanatory I guess- toobladink

Fog light bulb upgrade
Nice! I might just have to do that, I was more interested in the bulb thinking it'd be cheaper and I had to do it anyways; but it looks pretty comparable in terms of difficulty. Fog light bulb upgrade
I was looking at getting some sort of aftermarket lighting, but then I thought about how I never have my fog lights on; wouldn't it be nice to have the brightness of a small light bar with a switch already built in? I'm usually not one to care about the appearance of my car, but now I am. The wheels are all scratched up and dirty, what should I do to make these look brand new? Careful buying Atturo tires
Yup. Tires are super important and I think going cheap, or even "budget" (like I did a few years ago) is not good.
