"Preciate the support -- I've pulled codes ran the code scanner and KOEO/KOER all 111s but what gets my attention is; most times the scanner detects only 4 cylinders (sometimes it shows 6) -- I do disconnect the neg cable and clear codes from the ecm -- didn't remove the hose from the cold...
Thanks GM - sorry it took so long (job huntin too) -- My scanner's not pulling any codes that's why I'm leaning toward a vacuum issue -- Just something that's been hanging over my head for the past three years (guess by now I coulda paid a shop to fix it huh?) -- I'll work with it more this...
Thanks Vq - I tried "GTP" last year; probably didn't use it correct (probably anxieties of trying to pass) -- I'll try removing the hose from the exhaust to

Hello All
Nothing but good things to say about this forum.
I have a 92 explorer (pushrod I believe) and chasing a possible vacuum leak - there's a black oblong cylinder left of the coil pack - please tell me the name of this part, how it could affect emissions test, and where the vacuum line...
Thanks to all who replied - Anime, think I'll take your suggestion and piece together a 2.25 system with the chrome clamps - I've been puttin this off for awhile - think I'll toy with that -- Xplore On :salute:
Thanks is and understatement - think I'll try to piece my system together starting w the 17747 (haven't been able to find the 17430) -- was trying to do it without the muffler shops but I know they have the lift and other equipment to make it quicker and easier -- you can always get useful...
Anime - Thanks for the quick response -- any disadvantage to using 2" instead of 2.25? I plan to take it to a muffler shop and have them put it together for me --
Hello Fellow Explorers -- I bought a Dynomax Exhaust system (catback) that says it fits 93-94 4door Explorer would that fit my 92 4 door? Maybe with minors mods? Most Gracious -- Happy and Safe Independence Day!!!:salute:
Will 245/45/20s rub
Planning to change to 20" inch wheels and concerned about the tires rubbing - I want to use 245x45x20 tires Does anyone know if these will rub?
Had a similar trouble about a month ago - replaced solenoid and positive cable -- good since then -- pretty easy job, removed oil filter for better access to remove cable from the metal piece that keeps the cable from coming in contact with a hot engine (good opportunity for oil change) -- u can...
Just did a scan on my 92x -- 11 or 111s is pass (good) - 536 code because you may not have floored the gas pedal during a particular part of the koeo test (i forgot to do that too) - 157 (maf sensor) - the codes are in the haynes manual chap 6
positive battery cable seems to have been my trouble - replaced it and man what a smooth start (so far so good) -- stiil trouble w the negative cable but I think I'll just splice the new one in where it comes up from the engine block -- this forum rocks
Negative cable screw (on engine block)
Having the same trouble (single click) -- replaced starter relay on fender and once I got multiple clicks now back to single click -Giving my battery a good charge now. Bought new cables from Napa (thanks Tbars) but the bolt that holds the negative cable...
found a broken wire near the starter - repaired it and thought I had trouble solved but not - tried to jump across the starter leads but starter drags for a moment then relay back to single clicks -- will ordr replacement cables from napa (think I need them anyway) -- more to follow
Explorer Intermittently Won't Start
I got it all wrong - trouble is the X will intermittently not start -- I tried the screwdriver across the starter relay terminals and it worked about 3 times. I was ready to replace the relay but now it won't start like that anymore -- After researching on...
:exp: Hello -- My son gave one of his friends a jump start and now the Ex will shuts off intermittently -- Haven't tested yet but I think alternator -- any suggestions? Thanks
Haven't posted in awhile but just want everyone to know that I have used the forum to resolve several issue with my 92X -- Couldn't be more grateful --
My question today? -- Does anyone have to link to a source for a rear power window regulator (without the cable)?
Thanks in advance!!!!!!!
:salute: Transmission rebuilt and runs like a top - new plugs, wires, MAF, and ECT - runs really good now but still bugged by the "oil pressure gauge" bouncing.
Thanks Y'all
yep - engine was running - it's like the fluid went from the filler tube straight to the pavement - Masterd, I'm just not ready to accept that it's the front seal yet (but I'm on the way) - now the transmission won't engage (had to park it in a schoolyard) - i'll have it towed and let the local...
guess I should also add that I put Mercon V in there too (read a post that said it was good to use, but just read an old post from BrooklynBay that said don't use Mercon V on older than 1997)
what's the best way to remove this fluid and add Type F (I used in the past)?
you can tell, I'm...
this front pump seal - is it where the tranny meets the engine? that's where I'm losing the fluid. drip.....drip.....drip. could it also be that I have added too much fluid?
this is probably going to take a transmission expert, huh?
Thanks again
I know it's in here somewhere. 1992 v6 xlt 4.0 2wd - losing trans fluid, the only way I know it leaking is because the transmission won't pull me up a hill and the fluid is all over my tailgate and rear window. I know it's in here somewhere. Most Gracious
What else?
Got a stock 92 4x2 myself. In spite of the repairs that I've made, I wouldn't trade this beast for nothin' (I haven't had to spend a ridicules amount of money) ...What I want to do is lower it about 2 inches. Any suggestions?
