    97 Eddie Bauer wheel problem

NVM, just found the problem. That chrome wheel skin is glued into the wheel, water got behind it, and the steel wheel is rotting out. I guess its time for some new American Racing aluminum wheels :)

    97 Eddie Bauer wheel problem

Hey all: I have a problem with a wheel on my 97 EB. It is the factory 15" 5 spoke chrome wheel. The stamped steel chrome wheel cover (it looks like it is press fit inside the steel wheel) is starting to come out, to the point where the hub cap won't stay on. I thought I'd hit it with a...

    Metal box above spare tire

Thanks a bunch for the info.

    Metal box above spare tire

Is that box the canister, or is it just a bracket that holds the canister? If its just a bracket, I could probably build a new one with stainless or aluminum. It looks like if I didn't have the spare there, the thing would drop out after a good speedbump.

TT and 31" on a 97 Eddie Bauer

How big of a tire can I run if I do crank the torsion bars and shackles?

    Metal box above spare tire

No, this is to the left and behind the spare tire winch. It looks like brake lines are running into it, but I am not sure....

TT and 31" on a 97 Eddie Bauer

I've been reading about TT's and shackles to give a 2" lift. I'd like to put some 31's on. From what I have found, 31's do not require any cutting, but my truck is an Eddie Bauer. With 2" of torsion twist/shackle lift, would 31's be able to clear my stock Eddie Bauer fender flares...

    Metal box above spare tire

Hey all: On my 97 Eddie Bauer, there is a steel box above and to the left of the spare tire. The box is rotting out from rust. What is this box for? Thanks in advance, John Fordham

How do you change the wiper park position?

What does the CD say to do?

How do you change the wiper park position?

As was stated before, this technique doesn't work. The "rotating knobs" are oblong, and only fit into the wiper arms one way. The knob itself needs to be rotated.

How do you change the wiper park position?

My driver side wiper parks very low, and the passenger parks on the windshield cowl. I removed the wiper arms, but it looks like they can only go on one way. Is there any way to change the park position so they won't hit the cowl? Thanks in advance, John Fordham

How do you remove lower air box?

Would it make sense to pull that air silencer out of there while I have it out? I did that in my Cougar years ago and got a little quicker throttle response.

How do you remove lower air box?

It's not going to break if I do that, is it? I do need to put the thing back in.

How do you remove lower air box?

Hey all: I want to do this fog light mod, but I can't figure out how to remove the lower air box to access the wiring. Any help would be appreciated.

    Check Engine Light. Need Advice

A quick way to check to see if you have intake manifold leaks is to shoot a little starting fluid at the gaskets while the motor is running. If you get a surge, the manifold is sucking the starting fluid past the gasket.

    Headlight problem

I checked the "correct" fuses. It does appear to be the LOM. I found it, and got the light to come on when I wiggle the wires. I'm going to pull it out tonight to get a part number and try to get one from Ford. If its too much, or unavailable, I'll try to fix it myself. FYI, the info...

    Headlight problem

Yeah, I did some more looking, and saw that the LOM may be my problem. The new question is, how do I get to it? I don't see any screws or buttons holding the cover onto the center console, and I don't want to start yanking on it and break something. I am assuming the LOM is behind the info...

    Headlight problem

Hey all, I have a problem with my 97 Eddie Bauer. The left low beam does not come on (the right side works, as does both high beams). The bulb works (I swapped bulbs between the right and left). The maxi fuse works, and the mini fuse in the dash is fine (checked both sides with a circut...

    Auto lamp problem

Thanks for the pic. That and one I found on Ebay made me realize that black plastic bolt cover I found under the driver's seat is actually for the autolamp sensor. I put it back together as best as I could (I think a part of the cover is missing), and now it seems to work fine. I guess I'll...

    Auto lamp problem

Hey all: I have a used 97 EB Explorer, with a autodim and autolamp mirror. The autodim part works, but the autolamp part does not work. When the autolamp is set to work, the headlights come on day or night. I've just left it off, and used the switch manually. It used to belong to my...

Do I need my egr tube? what does it do?

The EGR tube connects to the EGR valve which should be just after the throttle body on the upper intake. The other end of the tube connects to the exhaust manifold. What you are describing sounds like removing the vaccum line between the air tube before the TB which connects to the valve...

Do I need my egr tube? what does it do?

It may lean out because of the EGR valve allowing unmetered air into the intake. au01st, I'm surprised you aren't getting a CEL from it. Are you sure your CEL bulb is working? Having a hole in the EGR tube won't cause a CEL, but removing the entire EGR system or simply unplugging it from...

Do I need my egr tube? what does it do?

EGR stands for exaust gas recycling. It runs exaust gasses back into the combustion chamber to burn some of the unburnt hydrocarbons in the system. Your vehicles computer assumes that it is hooked up. Removing it will lean out the mixture at cruise and at best, screw with your cruise gas...

    97 Stainless Brush Guard

Hey all: This is my second post, so be gentle. ;) And I did search, and didn't come up with much. I'm looking for a stainless steel brush guard for my 97 Eddie Bauer, but can only find one made by Manik. I've seen lots of powdercoat and chrome, but I perfer the looks and longevity of...
