    High Rev at startup

    Mine had that issue, i bought it new and i cant remember if it did it then or not, its been doing it for so long. I did the upper and lower gaskets last weekend, and it stopped doing that. Could be a vacume leak repair in your future.

    So, i finished my 0012M fix yesterday, well most of it. I replaced the upper and lower O rings, kinda puzzled at Ford, dont see any reason they actually make the intake manifold in two pieces. Both sets were rock hard, and you could see on the lower where it was leaking through the seal...

    oh gotcha, mine has that. No other instructions other than the same sheet in your picture. What did you use for the tensioner, big socket or big wrench?

    so Fed ex brought my kit today. what is the long rod thing for in the kit? The tensioner looks like it needs a oring around the base of the hex where you thread it into the hole, do i use one that is still on the old one?

    I did my plugs last summer, everyone said it was hard, only took a hr or so, did it through the fender, not bad, I have the SOHC.

    I bought my 99 EB brand new and its done this high rev at startup ever since i have had it. I thought i was the only one. I am going to check the TB seal and see if that is the issue. I have tried everything else, mybe the computer flash wil work for me.

    Think that is bad? I worked for Chrysler for a bit, I think it was a Cirrus, to replace the horn, you had to take the battery out, the headlight, the support and the evap canister, it took me 2 hrs to do my first one.

    On post number 9 on your thread, the 2nd and third image, is that the sensor on the lower right? I cant really get a reference on the location. I see your upper radiator hose, but it looks like it may be routed different maybe.

    QUestion about Longevity of the SOHC motor and Explorers in general..how many miles

    We have a 99 EB, 4.0 SOHC. 160,000+, the only things i have done besides tune ups and oil changes, IAC Upper Intake Gasket Thermostat Right front wheel bearing went bad at 75,000 Trans Service We have pulled a 17 foot boat with it for the last 5 yrs, no problems yet

    hanging idle upon start up

    My 99 4.0 SOHC has always done this, since it was new, maybe not for 20 sec, but it revs really high when you first start it, cold or warm. I thought it was normal till i rode in someone else's 99 Explorer.
