Whattttt! Section 525 owns a V6 explorer? Time to upgrade to a v8 and you won't have these problems.

I thought I would test the waters...... I have all the parts for a complete 4x4 conversion for a 2WD V8 explorer or mounty. Parts include 4x4 4r70w tranny w/ AWD tcase/front susp/diff/drivelines/hardware/etc.... Do you think people would be interested in this? All parts have under 50K...

If you bought a 4R70W Output shaft and housing, the only thing you can install on it is a All Wheel Drive Transfer case. No...... The stock output shaft is not weak.......... it only can be mated to an AWD t-case. Good Luck, Al

The Baumann COmputer is $400 dollars................... and is the only way to operate the 4R70W unless you use an EEC-V (five) computer system and wire harness. Good Luck, Al

A 4R70W and a AOD are pretty much the same internally. (excpect for electronics and wide ratio) Any Advanced Adapter output shaft and Output housing will swap between the 4R70W and AOD. If you have 4R70W output shaft and output housing, you are limited to a 1996-2001 All Wheel Drive...

The Baumann TCS is a good unit. It can turn a stock 4R70W in to a whole nother transmission. The only bad thing is the price....... $400 is a little scary... but well worth it. Wiring the TCS is easy. Three wires for the Trottle position sensor, give it power and a ground, and switch...

Remember, the 4R70W is behind 4.6L mustangs, expeditions, and F-150's. It can handle the torque. 1999+ 4R70W's are the best of the crop. (Ford made some updates to the tranny)

Umm........ not everyone is going with a AOD. The cool people are going with 4R70W. (lol) you might as well forget about your stock 5spd. It has a one piece bellhousing that will not bolt up to a 5.0. (it is too small) If you get a mustang 5spd, you will have to adapt the clutch linkage...
