    Dangling hose!!!

Thanks for the info, looks like I was pointed in the right direction after all. I assume that the higher up in the engine compartment I secure the hose the better... One slight problem - I haven't been through any water lately but I was out wheeling yesterday in about 10" of snow. We are...

    Dangling hose!!!

Found a 1/2" O.D. black hose, approx. 2' long, hanging from a small metal pipe atop the front axle housing - I assume this is a vent tube but am not 100% sure. The hose is capped with a clear plastic device that has a head on it that moves around like a bobble doll. How's that for a...

    MAF and throttle body question

:redexp: Never noticed any real change after bolting on the Granatelli. The BBK throttle body is another story all together - that thing made the ol' X jump! No problem with install of either component - both straight forward bolt-ons. I'd suggest getting a throttle body spacer as long as you...

What can be done for better throttle response, and how can I tell what gears I have?

:redexp: After you get more air comin' in, dump the stock throttle body and slap in a BBK performance throttle body and a Helix throttle body spacer. U will notice a difference immediately. To the tune of about $330.

What would cause my cruise control to 'surge' please take a look....

:redexp: Ditto on what 5.0Dad said - my 96' started surging at highway speed (65-75) about a month ago (109,000 miles). The CIL and O/D On/Off lights were both acting wacky. And a tranny solenoid code was showing on the 'puter. Turns out the OD ring was worn out. It's in the shop right now...

    Sway Bars

:redexp: Ditto on what Ray said - poly bushings make all the difference in the world. Loose the factory sponges, slap in the poly and away ya' go.:redexp:

    Any Ideas For a 96 XLT V8

:redexp: No problem getting at least 2" on front with a torsion twist and 2-3" on the rear with an add-a-leaf. These are not difficult procedures so you may be able to handle the work yourself. Torsion bar adjustment is really easy - you can do this. Rear springs a little more difficult but...

Has anyone heard both the 40 and the 50 series Flowmaster

50 series SUV model is on my 96'. Nice low rumble with moderate resonance at <45 mph. Resonance trails off at highway speeds - not noticable at all with the stereo on. Be forewarned - the Flowmaster rumble will turn heads...:redexp: Maybe that's what ya' wanna do!

Anybidy running on a single Optima?

:redexp: Got the Yellow-Top coupled with a 200 amp PowerMaster alternator. No power problems here. Optima had to supply a hold down clamp adapter to fit my 96'.

    KKM Installation help !!!!

:redexp: Ditto - use the supplied bracket if you need it and/or use some wire ties (color optional) to snug it/dress it all up. You might want to consider a K&N DryCharger Wrap for your new KKN. The DryCharger is an elasticized overwrap that is water resistant - comes in different colors...

    Roof Rack...wind noise?

:redexp: Steel Horse 50"x40" - noise level is not a concern, great place to carry my spare 31x10.5x15 MT Baja and other goodies.

    What was your first Mod?

:redexp: My first set of mods was: Rancho 5000's all the way around, add-a-leaf 2" lift on rear & Flowmaster Delta 50 cat-back system. Decide what your priorities are: power, lift, looks, etc. then go for it one step at a time. You will get there...

What mufflers do you guys have/reccomend?

50 series is your best bet - mellow tone aggressive rumble through the lower range (up to ~35-40 mph), then a nice smooth tone at road and highway speeds. Definitely a head turner!:redexp: Go to: http://www.flowmaster.com for spec's. Good Luck!

What mufflers do you guys have/reccomend?

Flowmaster 50 series with 2.5" exhaust works fine for me and sounds great - good choice IMHO.:redexp:

    Squeak, Squeak, Squeak (HELP)

Sounds like you have the usual suspects covered. Start with the serp. belt then proceed on to the flywheels. May have a bearing going out... Good Luck!:redexp:

    torsion lift

Just did the torsion bar lift and got just under 2" extra lift out of the front end. Just what I needed to even out the 2.5" gained by add-a-leaf on the rear. Noticeable improvement in ride characteristics as well - firmer. Eliminated slight front rub on my 31x10.5x15's at full compression...

Will this puppy give me some more HP?

:us: I installed the Granatelli MAF on my 96' and have had good performance from the unit. Dyno testing showed an increase of about 12 HP compared to the stock MAF. :redexp:

    What kind of Shocks?

:us: Running Rancho RS 5000's on my 96' with real good results both on and off road (approx. 50K miles on this set). Ive got 2" and 2.5 " of lift front/rear with the torsion bars torqued and add-a-leaf on. Shocks cost about $180 for a set of four and are readily available. I'm...
