96 XLT V8
I am new to this forum and after viewing many of these messages and pictures, I am ready to upgrade my X. I have a 96 V8 and was wondering what some good upgrades would be. I would like to raise it a little and get some bigger tires to start with. Any Ideas on how and where I could do this? The look I kind of want is that of SSIKORA and Ray Lobato's X's. Please help. Thanks

All my mods are posted at the bottom. Very cheap to get it to my level of lift. Just takes a little patience.

Do a search for Body Lift..and torsion twist.

Thanks for compliment.

So I shouldn't have any problems lifting my X? Has any one with a 96 V8 lifted theirs? And if so, have you had any problems doing it?

Get a dual exhaust, a chip, and a free flowing intake. You might also want to consider switching over to synthetics. All of these mods will free up some power and gas mileage. With my K&N, dual exhaust, and synthetic oil, I gained 2 mpg on the highway.

:redexp: No problem getting at least 2" on front with a torsion twist and 2-3" on the rear with an add-a-leaf. These are not difficult procedures so you may be able to handle the work yourself. Torsion bar adjustment is really easy - you can do this. Rear springs a little more difficult but do-able. If not, buy the springs yourself and look to spend around $150-$200 for labor to get the job done.

Good luck. :redexp:

Go to a muffler shop and have them cut off your muffler. Then have them split that pipe(y pipe) and run duals out the back corners with some nice chrome tips. It will cost you about $150. It will sound better than any cat-back you can buy. It will attract a little attetion at heavy acceleration but shouldnt bother the cops. It you have to get a muffler, get a 1 chamber Flowmaster.
