How to: Convert V8 AWD to BW 4406 Manual Shift- A how to thread

yeah SO i went to Ford today and talked to the shop Foreman. HE said that although there probably is a way to convert via wiring, he is pretty certain the change over is simply software modifications to make it work. He did a bit of research but didn't come up with anything major. HE was...

How to: Convert V8 AWD to BW 4406 Manual Shift- A how to thread

VSS woes I still cant figure out how the signal is different from the gear driven speedo and the magnetic sensor. They both are electronic after about 2 inches outside the TCase and they both have the same plug, as well as the same number of prongs (2). So my guess being that I have a 98 TCase...

How to: Convert V8 AWD to BW 4406 Manual Shift- A how to thread

Solved. The rear shaft being out didn't make a difference. So we pulled the Tcase again today (feel like I'm pretty proficient at it now). We discovered that the shift fork spring was missing. (see attached picture) It's a 14 dollar part from Ford. Ordered it and should be here by Monday at...

How to: Convert V8 AWD to BW 4406 Manual Shift- A how to thread

The shift linkage is unobstructed and I have taken the linkage off and spun everything around whilst forcing the lever on the T Case by hand. The T case has four distinct positions and goes through all of them as it normally should (with the linkage on or handled manually) the rear shaft being...

How to: Convert V8 AWD to BW 4406 Manual Shift- A how to thread

Bw 4406 I wanted to separate my "tips' post from my "help!" post, haha. SO i installed my 4406 yesterday, everything went fairly well and I took my time making sure I did things right. I got to the point today where I installed the shift rod and tested everything while the Mountaineer was in...

How to: Convert V8 AWD to BW 4406 Manual Shift- A how to thread

Swap TIPS Greetings Gents, I just spent the past 2 days with my 97 Mounty on a lift, following this thread to install. Here is what I discovered: -The gas tank bracket does not have to be removed to bend it if you acquire the proper leverage on the bracket using 1-2 adjustable wrenches. I...

    TORQUE MONSTER Headers GROUP BUY

Tm Headers As far as I know, the original fabricator of the TM headers has passed the torch (either temporarily or permanently) to a shop called Al's Headers in Anaheim CA. Now, I have been dealing with Al's to get a replacement EGR tube for my TM headers setup. They seem like nice enough...

97' Mountaineer with '01 Excursion Limited seats

totally worth it IT sits about 2 inches higher, mainly due to the contour of the seat and the added padding. I'm 6' 3'' and still fit nicely though... even without much of a "gangster lean" haha.

97' Mountaineer with '01 Excursion Limited seats

the nice thing was that since the base transfered over so well, the seat belt buckle still fits fine. The major differences are the comfort level is some much better and the seat doesn't lean forward as far, but my mountaineer seat base makes it move till its 3 inches from the glove box, so no...

97' Mountaineer with '01 Excursion Limited seats

    TORQUE MONSTER Headers GROUP BUY

Stock exhaust I had my truck in the shop before i shipped it up to Alaska and convinced my mechanic to put my set in for me while he had some stuff apart... He said his lead guy had about 10 hours in it from tear down to install - but he did a bunch of other stuff in between smoke breaks and...

97' Mountaineer with '01 Excursion Limited seats

Went to Northwest auto in anchorage here last week, my favorite kind of parts buying - a UPULL salvage yard. I was looking for interior stuff to update my Mounty or replace my tattered console top. I stumbled upon some heated 01 Excursion Limited seats that looked like they'd be a fit. I know...

97' Mountaineer with '01 Excursion seats?

In case you were wondering... Just to follow up for any of those interested... YES the '01 Excursion Limited Captain's seats do fit the 97' Mountaineer. The base from the Mountaineer stock seats carry over except the bolt holes line up front to back, not width wise however. I am going to solve...

97' Mountaineer with '01 Excursion seats?

Howdy gents, I am up here in Anchorage about to buy some front 01 Excursion Limited seats for my 97 Mountaineer. I know they're a little big, but not having a tape measuring device or the tools to take out my passenger side to test it out - does anybody know if they will fit? (possibly minus...

Greetings sir! I am currently stationed overseas in Japan & preparing to move to Alaska as my next base. I have my mountaineer at my mechanic's in NJ being worked on. How to: Convert V8 AWD to BW 4406 Manual Shift- A how to thread

Preparing for a GO I see the v8boatbuilder and '97 v8 both did a gas-tank-swap to the sport size - but MountaineerGreen did not, that being said are there any other suggestions before i do this swap, for bracing, install deviations, pre-emptive maintenance that can be done? thanks in advance...
