not sure what to think about my explorer. when driving i let off the gas, and the drivetrain or something spins untill i step on the gas... tranny trans case?

hi yes the rpms do drop. and seems the tac not working right

hi the tranny feels fine shifts good goes into reverse and drive good. when i let off the gas instead of just coasting and slowing down it feels like it disengages the drivetrain and something spins at a high rpm making a loud winding noise.

Welcome to this forum! It might be the transfer case. See if this happens in other settings.

Bringing back this old thread to see if you ever found the problem. This exactly what is happening to me. it has also happened putting it into reverse

Its your transfer case, I can guarantee it to about 99%
