The data is from my '99 SOHC using Amsoil Bypass filtration ( http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=126111&highlight=bypass+oil+filter ) and Amsoil Series 2000 0W30 ( Dead Link Removed ). The mileage on this oil sample is 30,625 miles.
No oil filters were changed and no make up oil added at this sampling.
The UOA on all the samples was performed by Blackstone Labs ( Dead Link Removed ).
The first ( of 7 ) column represents the virgin oil ( VOA ), the second is a previous sample of this oil at 5120 miles, the third is another previous sample at 7679 miles, the fourth is a sample at 19,848 miles, the fifth is a sample at 25k miles, the sixth is the current sample ( 30625 miles ) and the last represents Blackstone’s average of data collected for this type motor.

Blackstone's comments: AL: No problems were found in the latest sample from your Explorer. Iron increased to the highest level that we've seen in recent history but is likely due to the long oil run. Wear generally increased in this sample but nothing was high enough to warrant any serious concern. The viscosity of the sample was just slightly high but shouldn't be a problem and no harmful contaminants were found. The TBN read 2.1 so you had little active additive remaining. 1.0 is considered too low for extended use. For an oil run this long wear looks great!
My conclusions:
This UOA validates extended OCI using bypass filtration. Even though this oil is still “good” and I could get more miles out of it, but based on this UOA, especially the thickening of the oil to 15w40 and my quest for mileage, I changed the oil and filters and will go for another 30k or more miles ( with UOAs ). Yje new oil I used was Amsoil Signature Series 0w30 oil (Dead Link Removed ) and Amsoil EaO/EaBP filters.
This motor has never used nor leaked any oil whatsoever.
