00' sport 4x4 issues

Hello,

Well i have a 00 sport 4x4 sohc and its having few issues.

The list:

Fog lights dont work, the button doesnt illuminate, the button doesnt light up when pressed.

The keypad wont unlock door with master code wont light up but will lock doors when last 2 buttons are pressed.

4x4 selector works in 2wd,4x4 high but not in 4x4low , the light wont come on in dash nor does it go into 4low.

I have replaced switches for fog lights and 4x4 switch from a spare bezel i had didnt make no differnce. Fuses are all good. I was wondering does the GEM unit control all this stuff as well? or is it just coincidence all these things burnt out seprately?

I dont hav eaccess to a code reader and the dealer wants 80 plus taxs to do it so i would rather start here then work my way to them.

Btw I just gave my 94 xlt a brand new paint job(which i did myself) and besides replacing the a4ld while back hasnt given one problem after 282,000km's, now just to get the bug sout of this 00' and maybe it will be as good to me as the 94.

For the 4low problem, are you completely stopped and in neutral when switching to 4low? That is the only way it will shift in and out of 4 low. For the foglights, I would check the relay for them under the hood. Not sure about the code for the door locks, maybe the GEM was swapped out?

I tried the 4x4 low while in park wiht brake on and when in neutral with brake on no difference.

The fog lights i havnt checked relay but the switch for foglights and rear defrost dont even get illuminated like the other switches in the stereo bezel.

The code i am using is the master code right on the rap module.

keyless entry all works fine now, still dont know why 4x4low or foglights dont work what controls the 4x4low switch? foglights i guess maybe a relay but still doesnt explain why no back light illumination on the fog light switch and rear defrost switch.

anyone have any ideas?

only thing that changed for keyless to work was me using a mirror and getting the right master code lol i was using a 8 instead of a 3.

on a diff note i noticed my daytime running lights dont work as well are they controled by same thing as the foglamps? I still cant get the fog and rear wiper buttons to illuminate and its not there bulbs also 4x4low still doesnt work.

I just had to replace the bulbs in both my Ex's for the headlight switch. Does the fog and rear wiper use the same bulb? (picked up 2 for $1.49 @ Radio Shack).

Why do you think it isn't the bulbs?

i replaced the whole bezel and switches from a donor explorer cuz my bezel was busted i guess its possible both explorers had the same 2 burnt out bulbs.

my main concern now is the 4x4low the lights i can live without, i tried figuring out how to test the electrical part of 4x4low switch but the ford cd's i downloaded confuse me lol i guess if it is electrical i should get a code for it so maybe i will just pay the dealer to scan.

When you try shifting into 4low, does the transfer case make any kind of noise at all? If not, you may want to pull the motor out and try checking it. If the motor is bad you will not be able to get 4low, but should be able to get 4hi as that is just locking up the clutch via the brown wire.
