I own a stock '00 explorer xls and would like to put larger tires on. Other than a torsion lift is there any other options like a body lift.

If not; what if any draw backs are there to the torsion lift. Is there any extra wear/stress on the vehicle?

I have a 99 XLS and have done a torsion twist with autozone shackles. It gave me about 2 inches of lift. I have 31x10.5 bfg at tires and they donot rub at all. I have had the torsion twist for the last 6 months and the only thing i noticed is the ride is a little rougher, but its a truck and an explorer will never ride like a cadillac.

31s fit without a lift. They actually look great on it.

255/70R16 works out to be a 30. But still better than the stock 28".
