I just wanted to know if anyone could link me to a place that sells the 00m12 kit that fixes the problem with cold starts (wants to die in cold temps and idles really rough).. i think that will fix my idle problem from all the research i have done on the topic from this site.. now all i need is to find a place that sells that kit everyone talks about.. i believe it has something to tighten a cam chain or something? i'm not really good all the mechanical things so i hope everyone knows what i'm talking about.

thanks for any help

I believe what you would be after is the Lower intake O-Ring seals and the Front and rear Cam chain tensioners (Updated design) Don’t know about in the US but the only place you can get it in Australia is a Ford dealership at a cost of $380, I understand you guys can get it for a F**kload cheaper than that.

Try the fast parts network formerly Ford parts network.

Or a ford dealer.

I was hoping someone more knowledgeable than me would reply, but since they haven't...

You are confusing two problems. The 99 Explorers have a problem with the chain tensioner, and the 98 Explorers have a problem with the chain guide. They show up by a very noisey timing chain. They do not affect cold starts.

The cold start problem is with a broken IAC. It does not hold a high idle speed when cold and stalls out; is that your problem? Supposedly it is easy to replace, but I had a shop do it. I also had a bad chain tensioner and had the shop fix that also.

Now my 99 is quiet and starts properly.

When I did my OOM12 kit blee1099 got it for me. The kit came complete in a single box with the 'O' rings and new front tensioner, oil gallery stick and new plug. I think the cost was about $50. I have no idea where he got it from but it did have a ford part # which I can't remember. It was not too bad a job to do just fiddly. Hope that helps some.

thanks.. howard that does help cause that's what i'm looking for.. if i could get a part # that would be awesome.

also thanks to the other replies.. i think Aussie was on track as well.. i just need to know the price and where to get it.. and a model #. I looked at autozone a while back and they acted like they had no clue what i was talkin about. im hoping to fix this this summer

i bought mine a the local ford dealer. if you cant find one call me on my cell 978-877-0361 and i can pick one up and mail it to you. the cost was like $49 shawn

I bought mine here in Kentucky at a Ford dealer for around 40 bucks. They might give you a hard way to go and say they dont sell the kit but keep on them they have the kits. I got the tensioner plus o ring kit for my 99 SOHC at Ford.

edavillenut you have a pm
thanks

I am also looking for a part number for the washer that goes with the tensioner i found part number for the kit but the guys that have done there's say to get the washer seperate because it's a better washer than the one that comes with the kit.
Thanks Haney
