01-05 Sport Trac 4x4 Lift Options Discussion

You don't need gap guards on the ST when you do a bodylift, you don't get any gaps like other trucks after them.

So i just took a small road trip up north to albany ny and noticed my speedo is about 8mph off and my gas mileage is around 11/12 mpg. Sound about right to anyone else?

Speedometer, yes. It's more of a ratio, though, than being off by a certain mph. It should be off by different amounts at different speeds. When my speedometer says 40, I'm doing 43; at 50, actually doing 55. It's accurate enough at lower speeds.

As for the mpg; everyone's different, but doesn't seem abnormal. I've been getting better than that, though, on 35s.

Yea true lower speeds are alot closer to actual speed then at higher speeds.

Good deal. Can't wait to see the installed pictures.

It seems that the website you ordered from is on the EF naughty list (didn't know there was one) so I won't mention it by name. Anyone able to confirm that?

newbie lift question

first of all all your lifted st look awesome my question is most of you use warrior shackles for the rear lift i found on ebay a kit that comes with 3' torsion keys, rear lift leafs and lifted shocks. im about to need tires and i want to go with 285 75 16 bfg all terrains i would just go with a body lift first but i could use some new shocks and it says rear leafs add towing capacity and i tow a trailer with 4wheelers has anyone used rear lift leafs or used this kit at all and are you happy with outcome i want it lifted and leveled out any info will be greatly appreciated thanks

dont go with that ebay kit. ive seen it and its a rip off. you wont even need the keys if you plan on doing a basic shackle/TT lift. you wont need the torsion keys, since you are 4WD, you shouldnt be twisting the torsion bolts more than 2". get warrior shackles, you dont want to go cheap on the shackles if you are going to be hitting the dirt. you could also look into add a leafs, some people are anti-shackle swap. just lift the back end with a set of warrior shackles or add a leafs, and twist your torsion bolts 2". then get an alignment. there you have it, 2" lift for under 120 bucks. then you'll be able to fit those bigger treads on, but you will have to do some trimming.

Could you link to the ad posted on ebay? You can simply do a TT for the front, no more then 2" since you have a 4wd.

Congrats Luke! Can't wait to see how it turns out!
Scrappy, yeah for that size tire just do the TT by tightening your torsion bolts, no keys needed. A little trimming though. Don't forget to get a front end alignment after you adjust them. That and a shackle swap will get you the lift you need. I don't know anything about the leaf add, so I'll leave that talk to the pros. New shocks aren't going to get you any lift but I've seen a lot of people happy with the Rancho's on here. That's what I'm going with soon.

It would do people a lot of good to read on this forum before checking eBay for stuff for their trucks. A lot of that crap is pure junk.

I see a lot of posts about the TT/shackle lift and mentioning that you just need to get an alignment. I don't know about your guys trucks but mine did not have an adjustment on the passenger side for camber. I had to install a camber kit for that.

Yeah, you have to get the caster/ camber adjustment kit if you wanna get an accurate alignment done. On the passenger side there were two piece UCA that allowed some adjustment but not enough most times.
