Hey you guys-

My wife's explorer is making this rattling noise that sounds like it's coming from underneath towards the back of the Explorer (maybe close to the muffler) and the noise only happens when idling. If you come to a complete stop or just sit in park, it makes this cyclical, rattling noise. You can barely hear it outside of the car, it is only worse inside the explorer. My wife was also saying her LCD screen on the radio was flickering a bit the other day, but I haven't seen this.

Do you know what could be causing this rattling? Is it something I could work on myself??

It's probably a heat shield on the muffler or one of the cats.

I had a heatshield issue on my old Sport. There were bits of gravel getting stuck in there and causing the noise. Muffler guy drilled a few holes in the shield so gravel would have a place to go. Worked like a charm.
