I am building an extreme off-road Sport Trac and ditching 99% of the factory wiring, but I would like to keep the rear window functional with the door windows. I will be using standard DPDT rockers for the door windows 'cause they're just two wire reversing motors. But the rear window motor has 8 wires, for the life of me I can't figure out why it needs 8 wires. Would love to get a shematic or find out what the various wires are for. Thanks in advance for any help.

So, after looking at the diagrams I saw I was not going to be able to make the OE motor work without the OE switch, witch I don't have. So I took the rear window motor assembly apart, took the motor housing off, removed the armature, removed the brush housing and circuit board and installed the brush housing from a spare door window I had, reinstalled the original armature and installed the motor housing from the door motor. Now I have a regular two wire motor to run my rear window.

That's something I don't recall ever seeing done. That also gives you infinite window positions just like a door glass, which would be a very desirable feature! Pretty slick!!

I have pics if you're interested. Can't post them here but could e-mail them to you if you like. Not that it was extremely complicated, just FYI...

Please do. I'd like to add them to my library of info

Rear Window Problem

Rear window is stopped in "vent" position on my 2002 . Have tried initialization process, but no luck. I am now into the motor housing and will disconnect power plug, but what points in male side should I check to see if power is getting at least this far. If none here, would guess its the switch, and will go back to forum and search for instructions on how to get to that little devil.

Thanks in advance

No power in the switch except for the light!
