Bill, I must know where you got those wheels. Those are HOT!

I bought them from a local place called Rick Johnson Tires.

Here is the web site for them:

Yes you can do it to your truck. The only difference is that you have a mono-leaf setup in the rear. There are some type of spacers that you can just move from the bottom to the top of the leaf. Much easier actually. Then you can remove your torsion screws. You will want to find a shop that can do the alignment before you do this though. Not all shops will do the shims that are required.

truly kickass!!! I love those new wheels way more than those stock ones. Looks really good with the lowering and new wheels, a big difference over stock. I like it a LOT!

Thanks. I was having a hard time finding the right wheels. I went to 7 different stores looking. As soon as I saw these I knew they were the ones. I like them because they look like they belong on a truck but yet they don't look like normal truck wheels!

Now it's on to the performance mods. I only have 12k miles left on the warranty so I am not going to wait any longer. Here is the short list:

KKM Tru-Rev(had this in my Contour and loved it)
New Exhaust(probably go with the Gibson)
Superchip

Not sure what else. I think this will be enough. I have a 5 speed with the SOHC and it is already at 207HP. With it being a sport it has decent power already.

I had thought about painting the plastic trim around the bottom of the truck the same silver as the interior trim. I just don't know how durable it would be!

bill, i think you should paint the grey trim on the outside, red to match the rest of the truck - i love that ;) . people do it all the time, and it seems to hold up fine.

When you removed the adjustor bolts was your truck lowered the same on both sides?

Thanks.....

I agree with TBaum. I am almost done painting everything black on my truck, and its lookin good. I am still debating if I should leave the rear bumper chrome or paint it black? What do you think TBaum?

if youre gonna paint it black, make sure you do it right, and prep it well. i think it would look pretty cool, but if youre not sure, then just leave it.

Yes! I don't understand how it could have been level from the factory because one side was adjusted differently than the other!

I thought about that too. The only problem is red shows chips badly. If I paint it Silver I don't think it would be as noticable. I have plenty of time to think about it!

yeah, i mean, i have a 98 sport, white with gray fender flares and it doesnt show chips at all, so if you go with silver, it wont show them too badly.

We'll see when the time comes. I like it the way it is so at least it will give me something to think about. I don't want to do everything too fast, then I'll get bored and have to get a new one or something stupid like that!

LOL :D
Well, I could bs you and say it came with MTX subs but I would be lying. It is an abbreviation for manual transmission. Sorry, it's a carryover from my Contour and contour.org days.

Yep, I completely removed them! The stock adjustments must have been way off because right now both sides are the same height and the stock adjustments were not even close. The passenger was screwed almost all the way in while the drivers was only screwed in about half as much.

my 98 EX was the same way. i completely removed the adjuster bolts and moved the spacers in the rear. the front dropped 2"(level on both sides now) and the rear is also dropped 2"(1 1/2" from the spacers, 1/2" from sag).

I think that looks great. I like the fact that you didn't get rims that everyone eles gets. Nice originality!

Here's an idea for a paint job.

Nice job Bill!!! Those rims are the ****. I've seen alot of X's but none with the 409's on them. Those rims and the lowering look REALLY good!! I agree with TBomb....paint that grey trim red
