01 Sport Trac Fuel Problem

Hi Guys,
Just registered with this forum and after reading some of the posts it seams as though you guys really know your stuff
Im hoping I can get some help with my problem. I have an 01 sport trac and having some issues with the fuel system. The truck will randomly "run out of gas". After waiting a few minutes it will fire right up and I can cruise on down the road, well at least for about a mile or so lol.
I started with replacing the fuel filter and it made no difference. I know the fuel pump is pretty expensive, so I thought I would ask you fine folks if there is something I should be looking at before I replace the pump.

Sounds exactly what was going on with my '95 Explorer. It would conk out like it ran out of gas, and I would crank and crank and crank and crank. I would give it a few mins and it would start right up again. No warning when it would do it again. Your assumption was correct, my problem was the fuel pump. Good luck!
