01 sport transfer case will not switch

The indicator light doesnt come on and the transfer case will not switch. I checked all fuses and relays. I would appreciate any help.

dead transfer case. there expensive to. go to a junkyard. got mine for $200. and plus its a dealer part only so ford has to do it for you.

might want to checkthe shift motor...it's pretty common for them to get dirty and quite working. If you search around here you will find many posts talking about this and how to clean them.

Ok, The motor works fine as I removed it and powered it both directions and it turns. I also manually shifted the t-case into 4lo and hi. I have narrowed it to the ECM(I hope). Anyone know where to find a new one cheaper than the dealer?

if i remember correctly the 4x4 switching doesnt go through the ecm did you check the switch?

Well I broke down today and took it to a Quality Care Center and they hooked it up to the diagnostic machine and concluded that the GEM needs to be replaced. They want $179 for it. I cant find one anywhere else. Anyone have a line?

nope that is still a ford direct part they have the market cornered on that one sorry i tryed every where from california to south carolina
