I Have An O2 Explorer That The 4x4 Does Not Work. It Has 38,000mi On It. It Worked 1 Time This Year And Work Very Well, I Had To Replace The Batt. Not To Long A Go, And The 4x4 Did Not Work The Next Snow We Had. I Unhooked The Batt. Cable 3-4 Times To Reset The Computer. And No Luck. I Checked The Switch, But I Could Not Tell If It Was Bad Or Not. It Did Have Power There Tho. All The Fuses Are Fine. Could It Be The Moduel? If So Where Is It Located On The Vehicle. Does Any One Have Any Ideas, Before I Have To Take It To A Shop.

bien it only has 38,000 miles on it, it seems unlikely but it could e the shift motor on the t-case. Arent you under warrenty though? if so take it to ford and make them fix it.

No, I Bought It As Is From A Dealer In Dexter, Mo. It Was A Lease Vehicle It Had 36,500 And It Was Out Of The 3 Year Warranty. I Thought It Would Be A Nice Vehicle For The Price, But I Didn't Expect To Have This Problem Either. Other Than This Problem The Explorer Is Great. Got Any More Ideas, Or Where The Moduel Is Located On It, I Want To Try To Un Plug It And Reset It There If It Is Possible. What Makes Me Upset About It Is That It Did Work Fine, And Now This. (know What I Mean). It Has To Be Simple But I Need A Little Direction. Thanks For The Info

Hello and welcome to the board.

Please use the Search feature of the board. 4wd engagement issues and the location of the 4wd module have been previously discussed.

Example of a thread you should run into thats related to your problem: http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=152263

Izwack,
Thanks For The Info I Will Try The Battery Cable For 5min This Time And See If That Works. I Cant Imagin That It Is The Motor But Who Knows. Also None Of The Lights Will Light Up When You Press Them. It Is Just Like It Does Not Exist At All. I Am Leaning Tward The Moduel Being Bad Since So Many People Have Said They Had A Problem Out Of It. I Am Just Trying Any Thing I Can Before I Have To Give My Money To The Dealer. I Like To Fix It My Self If At All Possible. This Is A Great Site And Full Of Info If You Know Where To Look, So Thanks Again And I Will Let You Know How It Turns Out. ANYONE WITH ANY OTHER IDEAS WELL ILL TAKE THEM

Ok I Tried Disconnecting The Battery Cable For About 5 Minutes And No Luck There. I Found The Moduel Behind The Glove Box And Unpluged It And Pluged It Back. And Still No Better. I Am Still Confused On The Indicator Light Part Of It. Like I Said Before It Acts As If It Does Not Even Exist. No Indicator Lights Will Come On At All For 4x4 Low Or 4x4 High. At Least The Moduel Is Very Easy To Get To And Take Out. 2 Plugs And 1 Screw Will Remove It And 2 Screws Will Open It. No Reset Buttons Just A Circut Board. Well Any Ideas, Shoot Them My Way. Thanks Again

Did you check whether or not there is power going into the module?

I have no clue which wire it would be tho. GIJOECAM would probably know as he is very knowledgable in the module.

No I Did Not Check For Any Power. I Did Not Know The Colored Wire To Check. But If I Did I Would Sure Try To Check It Out.
