Shortly after having a rear axle bearing replaced I developed a fuel gauge problem. The gauge drops to below E and the MIL check engine comes on shortly into a new drive cycle. On a restart the problem usually clears and remains that way for the trip. Vibration doesn't seem to be a factor, but I did notice left hand turns may be.

I understand why restarting the vehicle might clear the MIL, but don't understand why it would clear the gauge problem. If something is intermittent in the fuel sending circuit it appears to latch something. Is the guage controled by a module (anti-slosh maybe)?
